Lightbulb 2 Screen Mount Idea - Drawing Inside

Ok, I had an idea for a two liliput system, with one being an accessory screen, say for a keyboard or custom touchpad layout, depending on the program. example, if you are watching a dvd, it would have all the buttons for controling on it, such as play, pause, stop, ect.

for gps and route nav, it would have a standard keyboard with shortcut keys for the nav system. the second screen would be come invaluable. but most of us only have space for one.

i designed this around the 350z. for those of us to cheap to shell out $ 1,200 for the factory nav, they give us a crappy cubby hole that won't even hold a cd case. and for '04, they shrunk it and made the lid stay up instead of folding into the compartment. so i would have to switch that out to an '03. other carputer users with enough space in thier dash, or if they want to mount this system with an existing system, here is the idea:

1. A sliding track, much like a drawer. please note, the drawing is two dimensional, so stay off the ludes if you see both tracks.

2. extension/button. in order for the second screen to fall down, the first has to move forward, with enough space for the second to clear the gap. i think i might have to remount the screens, in order to get rid of the buttons. i'm thinking in individual boxes, military style (gloss black)

3. roller bearing or gear. this is to slow the decent of the second screen, so it just doesnt drop. think of a pc case with hidden drives. when you press the button on top, the cover slides very slowly down the front. same thing here. i would like to make the braket completly flat, so the bracket when fully released will mount on the back of the first monitor

to close, just push up the second moniter and push back the first, and it should lock back into place again. some little kinks need to be worked out, but this should be an easy project to complete.

for those who want to know, i actually did this in Visio, not paint i actually made this to scale in a mechanical drawing, then decided to have fun with the markers and stuff.

post you critques or better ideas below
