Tempting screen (Europe!)

http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/produ...nomy_id=25-109

Anyone seen one of these up close? How does it fare?

The only worrying bit is there's no mention of a VGA input

I reckon the build and display quality will be good ( I have a pioneer LCD screen) for a TV screen.

However the touchscreen will probably only work with Pioneer Nav systems and not a PC, and as you say it is not VGA so carputer pic quality will be poor.

it will probably be quite good, pioneers anti-grare coating is not to bad, huge improvment over lilliputs etc.

AFIK an rgb input is the same as a VGA input, you'd just have to make a custom connector.

also the touch screen would probably send signals over a pioneer bus of some kind, so it wouldnt work with a pc..

thats just my guess....

EDIT: i just found some info on rgb signals, they are similar to vga but use different syncing methods, you'd have to build one of these probably http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/c.../vga2rgbs.html

Shame, it's the first motorised, touchscreen in-dash display I've found so far

It's getting close to crunchtime for my project - several of the sponsors are chomping at the bit for some news :/

I came across that when I was getting my pioneer screen, but decided against trying to build it. Not sure if it will retain the quality, also ther will be problems with refresh rates and all other things. So I now have a lilliput which will be going into the dash shortly to replace the pioneer one.

I just got an email from CarTFT to tell me (unofficially) that they may be releasing an in-dash 7" display sometime this month.

Not sure how likely that is though...

lol

I'm not building it for free by far. Several of the more expensive components are being provided (the EPIA, power supply and the engine) but the rest I'm buying - the screen for example
