Xenarc and Scratches?

I have a 7" Xenarc TSV and to avoid finger prints I use a stylus from a palm pilot to make my selections. And so that I don't scratch the display I have covered the screen with a thin plastic film. The problem with that is that the plastic screen seems to scratch up very easily and looks horrible in the daylight. My questions are:

Does anybody else use a stylus on the bare screen? Are you worried about scratches?

I've thought about using a stylus and using that protective film you mentioned. I've had mine in my car for about a month now and I just use my finger. I would think adding on a film would reduce visibility...

I love using the pen. Sure a lot better than cleaning finger prints off. I'm just not crazy about the tip as it is hard plastic and I am scared of it damaging the screen. All of the stylus' I've seen are like this. I really don't feel like going back to wiping finger prints off.

Just don't poke it while in motion....a pothole will probably leave a hole in your screen.
