Is there really anything that motivates the higher price of a Xenarc Screen??
Is there?

The xenarcs DO use recycled panels, its not just the Lilliputs. They are very similar products TBH but the xenarc is definetly noticeably brighter/sharper and more colourful than the Lilli. For the price you cant go too wrong with the Lilli. Ill do a comparison soon. Whether the xenarc warrentys the higher cost i dunno, depends HOW much more.

I have found that the xen uses a different, better quality touchpanel. I have had two lillis and both of the have gone faulty.. from the moment I unpacked the xen I knew I had made the rest choice at last.. auto power on as well. defo worth the extra bucks

Hey guys Me and Confused have just done a good comparison, its actually quite suprising that the lilliput performed so well in out tests we will post a new thread or prehaps amend an existing thread once we upload the pictures of the two monitors side by side i can tell you from my knowledge and past experinces that the Lilliput does suffer with touchscreen issues, i myself have experinced this plus so have many other owners, having the two monitors side by side shows that the xenarc is much brighter, sharper, clearer, more defined colours and contrast! thats when looking at images and text, when we tested them at video playback the lilliput won hands down for much better colour representation, like i say more to come when we post the pics.

cool you beat me to it. I was gonna do one of those tests too. I have managed to capture a Xenarc 'ghost' image though... so they do use recycled panels like the lills. Seems its unescapable!

I'm very happy w/ my Lilliput, and I wonder about the amorphous 'quality' that supposedly makes it worth spending an extra couple hundred dollars.
Out of curiousity, has anyone considered that the price difference is based more on better profit margins then quality? Eg, if I have a bag of generic Cereal-Os and a box of Cheerios next to each other, is the Cheerios really better? The two are made in the same factory and are identical in every way to each other, just one comes in a box and one comes in a bag. It's not a quality difference you're paying for in that situation, so why assume that's the difference w/ these monitors?
1. They both use the same recycled Pachinko LCDs.
2. They both have the same features.
Based on this, I gotta challenge the assumption that the Xenarc is 'better' or 'brighter'. I have plenty of friends that confidently assure me that the Cereal-Os are inferior to Cheerios, even when shown that the two are made at the same place at the same time.
Is that phenomena happening here? Have people convinced themselves that 'since it's more expensive, it must, by logical extension, be better'?

The xenarcs and lilliputs are definitly not exactly the same, if you look at them internally, they are put together differently with different electronic parts, maybe part of the perception of better for xenarcs is based on the higher price, but they are certainly different screens. They do have different features too though, the lillput comes with a remote, the xenarc powers on automatically when power is applied, etc.
To me, the extra price is worth knowing that the manufacturer is in the United States and has a solid 15 month warranty, not just some garuntee from some fly by night reseller that may or may not be able to fix your problems.

Be careful of 'people in the know', l2tmuk, there's no shortage of people in the world who confidently state things they assume, not things they know.
'People in the know' often tell dial-up internet users that they don't need a firewall, for example. We've all heard it, doesn't mean it's true.
In regards to the Xenarc/Lilliput connection, I don't have the evidence to back up my conjecture that they are essentially identical, I'm just asking questions based on available info. If I learn that the Xenarcs are quantifiably better, then I shall adjust my opinions appropriately. I just hate assumptions.
