Turn off LCD when computer in standby

Does anyone know how to kill power to the lcd when the computer goes into power saving mode?

I am running a custom built screen... not a liliput or anything like that. When the computer has been idle for a while the vga signal shuts down, a normal computer monitor would shutdown until the mouse is moved etc, but the power to the screen stays on. Is there a pin or something I can use coming from the computer to do this?

Well, haven't tried it, but I suppose you could wire in a relay circuit to either USB power or the power from one of the status LED's that goes out under standby.

If you come up with something revolutionary, let us know.

Have you configured the screen for this in Power Options? If so, a mouse that's constantly moving and vibrating may be preventing the machine from going into the idle state.

There are a few ways to do what you want.

Either power the LCD from the power supply so the LCD isnt powered on standby mode.

You can build a circuit which cuts power when no signal is detected on the RGB lines but u need to be a electronics guy to make a complex thing like that.

I dont know what else u can do?

Im sorry I said "standby". Its actually not standby at all.

Just to clarify...
There are three options in the Power Options control panel:
Turn off hard disks after: --mins
Turn off monitor after: --mins
Go into standby after: --mins

I want the screen to shut off after --mins. Of course in standby it would do the same, but it would work off of the monitor turn off option. So anytime the signal to the screen is lost, the monitor would shut off.

I have looked through the VGA pinouts and of course there is not a "remote" wire that turns the screen on and off.

Anyone have any ideas?

on the serious side before you spend too much time on this the first thing i would check is if the screen turns on when reconecting power I.E. turn it on - unplug it --wait a minute - plug it back in - does it turn back on without hitting the power button?
