Older Xenarc TS - USB

Does anyone know or tried using a serial > USB converter on the older serial xenarcs?

I have blown my serial port on the pc <dont ask how> and need another way to connect the touchscreen

Cheers

I was testing this setup, and it worked, but I can't say how reliable it is in practice. The annoying thing is that the USB->serial thing that I have seems to change the port it provides every other time I attach it (not sure if it is a problem if you leave it in all the time) I would hope that not all converters do this, and if you get a good one, the serial version should be a problem.

I am not positive, but I think the new USB ones also have a brighter screen? anyone know?

alot of people have port communication issues with winXP, if you have a chance, you should try it on some other o/s like win2k
