If you don't mind a flickery PAL/NTSC 480x234 resolution it'll be fine. If you actually want to use it for a computer and read eg GPS text, save your money and buy VGA.

Yeah, it is pretty expensive. I've seen it for a little less than a grand. If it had a high quality screen that would output the touchscreen info it would still be tempting to use in conjunction with a carputer.

There are a lot of things a carputer can do that this thing can't. Kenwood also sells a navigation system that ties into that unit (hence the rgb, I suppose), so you could substitute a carputer for the kenwood nav to get navigation, larger mp3 selection, obdII, mobile web, camera's, etc.

But I agree, it is very expensive and only a thought. If the video quality is ntsc then forget it. I was hoping someone would say they had seen it and the video quaility was nice.

Oh well. Next...

Any TFT makes for a lousy computer display, simply because of the lack of resolution.
Go VGA.

Go VGA.

Not technically true. TFT is the display technology. VGA is the input, and resolution specification.

All good screens are TFT, but they have VGA inputs, and resolutions of eg 800x480, not 480x234 as the NTSC ones do.
