Lilliput backlight burnt out?

My screen has been working for the past 5+ months or so and now all of a sudden today, it's all dark. Boot up as usual, but the screen is dark, as if there is no backlight. I opened up the screen to check, but i dont know what to look for....everything looks normal.

The way i have the screen powered is off the 12V line on the pw70A and ITPS. Any ideas?

Totally black like it's off or just dark? I don't see anything at all without the backlight on.

I don't think it's the backlight. If you open it up, you should see white light coming out of the top of the LCD module if it's working. Some say if the mini-din isn't connected good it can be dark. Any other ideas???

I've been having the same problem. When I opened it up, the backlight seemed to be working, and I checked the connections to that - however, even if it's not connected to the pc, the VIDEO MODE indicator (VGAMODE/VIDEO 1, etc) that shows up on the screen is dark as well. Armen from DigitalWW said it would probably be the backlight, but mine seems fine.

Would it be the din connector to the pc board? Should I check those? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can email me at papp101@neo.rr.com or just post here, whatever's easier. Thanx!

Usually if it's the VGA connector or one wire, the colors will just be off. Like it's dim and all purple or something like that. First thing to try is auto-gain. On the lilliput, the brightness/contrast doesn't seem to do crap, but the red / green/ blue gain settings have a whole lot to do with how bright it is. You can go into that part of the on screen menu (I forget where it is) and look at what they are set to. If they are all 0 it will be very dark.

If you don't see the menus or video mode (VGA/Video1/Video2) then you have a problem inside the unit.

Well, i opened mine up, and looked around at the connections, but didn't find anything. Messing with my din connector plays the screen around, to fuzzy, and off and some other things.

I realized my din connector has been getting pinched every once in a while where I keep the screen when not in car. Does anyone think this could be the problem? is it possible that the problem is still in the unit?

Put a new ribbon on, and still no changes. Would soldering in a vga cable direct to the board help?

Thanx in advance again guys! Rando, I wish I drove a 4runner.

If you wiggle the VGA cable and it does weird things, then that would be a good guess as to the problem.

I wish I drove a 4Runner too right now!
