There is always a third option, just a regular non vga screen, save the 100 bucks and wait until a really good screen comes out that isn't dim to begin with.
Think I'm crazy? Well after reading lots of complaints about the brightness or the lack there of I finally got to see what you guys were talking about when I saw the lili and xenarc the first time in person. They both are dim. I wouldn't even use the word bright in the same sentence with either of these screens. Sure at night they work fine, or with Limo Tint (never thought of that...) but what about really being able to use the thing during the day with the sun shining on the screen?
That being said, yes VGA screens are way better, and blah, blah, blah. Yes I wish I had one and wih I was complaining about how dim the thing was versus not being able to read 10 point font. However after seeing the xenarc and lili in action my cheap screen suddenly doesn't seem so bad.
One last note, it seemed to me that the main problem with both screen's brightness was because of the touchscreen on top. People really like their touch screen's for whatever reason and that's cool but using a remote like the x10 with radio frequency I believe is the way to go. The reason is you can change volume, tracks, play, stop, and switch between GPS and music and just about anything else you might want to do all without taking my eyes off the road. Plus at night, I run with my screen off (cause it's to bright...) so I don't have to turn the screen on if I want to change songs or volume. Try doing that with your touch screen...Without taking your eyes off the road.
Plus, without the touchscreen you are getting the full advertised brightness out of the screen, not just 75 percent or whatever it is the touchscreen takes away. With that said, to each his own and more power to you.

just read thorught this thread..... wow please people if you want to go fight and argue just opena new thred and go for yours....stop hijacking threads with useless comments.. personally i agree with adamis that ts is really not that important... btw although im sure that you may think your remote idea is genius but there are people who have figured far superior methods of selecting songs or changing volums settings without leaving eyesight of the road....not flaming just pointing out...anyways perosnally i wish had gone no ts myself as i use a small compact wireless mouse to navigate... and although this is not one of the superior methods of navigating it works for me...i do have to my eyes off the road from time to time but i am a real good driver with a lot of experience...picture fast n furious when the comes to a full stop the whole time hes looking at the chic.... i can do that... not the best idea and i know its a little reckless but hey it works for me and im able to approximate my place on my road at given times even on turns on the highway...ive been able to go around bends on the road while looking in my rearview window the entire time.... oh and red light are great ...anyways that is off topic and just rant..
back to the topic
lili vs xanax vs zenarc
well i purchased a lilli in my initial setup basically due to being cheap and just wanted to experiment with a car pc setup.... my car is leased so i cant really mess with the dash...well i have to say im pleased with the lilliput...for some reason the unit automatically turns on whenever its plugged in...since i run on inverter this is not a problem at all for me....is a little hard o se during sunny dyze but viewing at different angles can help...and anyways im not q bif day person anyway let the night come out.... im prolly only going to be listening to music during the day anways...well its been 5 months with the lilliput and i havent eve installed the ts driver so i cant tell you how that works...I think ts is just for cosmetics.... makes everything look less like a normal pc... more attractive to people unfamiliar with cpu use or less experience driving...and for some reason as good as a driver i think i am reaching out and trying to press something on a screen at high speeds is unsafe for me..im more at ease laid back in my seat then up front and unbalanced...
well xanax is good...nah jk....xenarc ... i dont know havent really experimented with em yet....but when i do get more money i will buy one and convert my lilliput to a head rest mount..
hopefully ive helped if i didnt well **** it... your on your own

No, and' possible!
I have made the change as I have put in photo under and it works.
To replace the resistance underlined original from 10K ohms with one from 150k ohms.
To add 1 condenser to the Tantalum from 10uF/16v, connecting the positive one with a piece of thread to the new resistance in the suitable point and the negative pole of the condenser to GND that he is able' to find in the underlined connector.
Feeding later the Lilliput with my change around 1 second, to it automatically ignites, as if the button of Power was pressed.
And' however always possible to use all the keys on the Lilliput as if had not been modified.
Attention however', only for the experts, otherwise could do serious damn!
Bye

I am on my second Lilliput, and I think the touchscreen just crapped out on it, too.
Both worked flawlessly for a few days, and then all of a sudden, the right side of the touchscreen didn't work.
I ordered it from the mp3car.com store and ziplock replaced it with no problem. I didn't open it up, though... That's a no-no.
I just emailed him again to see if I can exchange it for a Xenarc if I pay the difference.
In my opinion, Lilliputs SUCK, but I also haven't had any experience with Xenarcs.

It just sucks that the price of these screens is so high. I know, I know... supply and demand blah blah blah.
$300 for a crappy 7" Lilliput is a lot of money, and over $400 for a Xenarc just seems outrageous to me, but now I am kind of wishing I would have forked over the extra $100. I was thinking that it wouldn't happen to me: my Lilliput wouldn't suck. Yeah, right.

For the auto-on lilliput problem I figured out a solution w/o opening up the screen All you have to do is splice up your cig lighter adapter and put that into a molex connector. Since the lilliput turns on automatically when power is applied (and obviously turns off when power is not applied) then this seems like a good solution

LOL We think alike. I'm actually thinking that I can mold the lilli without voiding its warranty

For what it's worth my Xenarc died over the weekend after I unknowingly cranked with a low battery. I downloaded and sent the RMA form, called and emailed. It's been 2 days with no word from Xenarc, not even an acknowledgement.
I emailed karpc and they gave me a lame excuse about being real busy. Seems like a crapshoot no matter what you buy.

I discovered a few dead pixels after a week of use and contacted Xenarc and karpc. Xenarc took a few days to reply, but karpc was really good about getting me a replacement. Forgot who I dealt with at karpc, but he told me he would take care of it instead of me going to Xenarc directly. They sent me a shipping label and got a new display to me pretty quickly.
Hope your situations turns out well....good luck.
