This is my PC: ATX
and this my TrackBall: LEDs are the Buttons (it is an old pic, because now i have a touchscreen, and don't need the trackball any more. The bad thing is, when you are driving, you must search for the arrow. With the touchscreen you dont need an arrow.)

Oooo. That LCD install is smooth. Where are your HVAC controls? Did you replace the headunit with an amp?

Very nice, and how cool to have a Firebird in Austria...
I'd like to see it with the screen on, that thing looks nice and big.
One question, what did you do with the HVAC controls?

Hi!
Thanks!
Well, i really like my Firebird, and have a kind of US Car Club in Austria.
I will put the controls instead the three air outlets at the top of the screen.
The only thing I have to do is to wire the 5m VGA cable.
The power unit will be ready in a few days. (12V to ATX)

That's huge!
Very nice install. Have you considered trying to make your HVAC controlled via software? I think that would be really slick (not that it's not already really slick )

Yes, this is a good idea!
I can controll the HVAC with step motors (I hope it is called like this) by USB.
The circuit for that is no problem.
Combined with a temperature messurment module, I could set a temperature on my screen, and the PC will regulate it automatically. Klima automatic

I recently ordered a Mini SSC II for servo control and hope to start playing around with my HVAC controls this weekend. I realized that a temperature measure was so obvious that it would be ridiculous not to implement it. Let me know if you make any progress and I'll post mine as soon as I get something.

Oh, that would be interesting!
Maybe I will try it.
But now I must install the CD Rom and the GPS Unit.
Then I will work at my HVAC controlls, maybe it is summer again then.
Who needs a temperature control?
I hope the winter will be warm this year.

Thanks!
That is very important for me, that the TFT and the other things I will install look like they are the original equipment of that car.
And such a great car needs PC on board!
maybe a little Kitt.
Greetings from Austria!

If you give up on computer controlled HVAC, another idea would be to fabricate a smaller panel, use smaller controls and put it somewhere like under the driver's dash. That vacuum control would be the hard one to replace with anything else though.
