What? Yours or VIAs? Maybe they've added the words "MP3Car", "Digital Car" and "800x480" to the list of emails to drop!

There are two ways for them to view us:

1) Pains in the butt (to be ignored or killfiled).

2) Valued customers who have a need they can fulfill.

Time will tell which path they choose, and their response will definitely affect *my* future purchasing habits - if no one else's.

I keep meaning to email them and point out that this and similar threads led to me *not* buying one of their mini-itx boards. It already influenced my purchasing decisions.

I second that. I purchased the MII 10000 thinking that the onboard audio and video would cut down on costs... Audigy 2 and wishing for this damn resolution fix have really influenced my buying habits!
Until they get customer service issues like this fixed and people are saying good things about them they won't be getting my business.

You burn me once, shame on you, you burn me twice, shame on me.

Stepping up the campaign...

I've just emailed Xenarc the following - maybe they can put some 'pressure' on Via to get things done?

To: xenarc@xenarc.com
CC: support@xenarc.com

Quote:
Hi,

I am looking to use a Xenarc TFT screen with my car PC. I currently have a
Via Epia M10000 motherboard which does not support the Xenarc's native
resolution of 800x480.

A number of car PC users have emailed Via to request a BIOS update to
support the native resolution.

I was wondering if there was anything Xenarc could do to communicate with
Via to make the very small change to allow everyone to use the Xenarc screen
without stretching or distorting the image.

This is not a powerstrip issue!

Thanks for any help,
Rgds/
Sam [real name here]
(member of mp3car.com forums - where everyone recommends/uses a Xenarc
screen).

Was it worth doing? Anyone else want to give Xenarc/GAIN/Liliput a nudge as well?

Hi,

I will talk to my contact at VIA and see if we can make this happen.

Regards,

Jimmy Hu

Will post any update if I get one. Not sure if bombarding Xenarc now is worth it as Jimmy is apparently on the case

Got an email back from Xenarc, too:

Quote:
Hi Steve,

Thank you for your e-mail. We have received several e-mails from customers like you. We have forwarded the information to VIA and offered a sample monitor for them to test. They have many customers who use our monitor with the similar request. So I was told that they will start working on it. In fact, a VIA representative will visit us sometime next week to meet with our R&D manager.

Regards,

Jimmy Hu

Wow, Xenarc listen!

Has anyone contacted lilliput similarly? Any bios updates would obviously be universal for all but I would hate to think that they would make a driver update so it would work on xenarcs only?

Sure we could instal the lilliput as a xenarc but i dont know how close the timings are or how interchangable they are there.

its just a thought
