hi driverdan
from my little experiment, think just changing refresh rate ain't going to work, need to tweat the advance display timing.... had to learn what the heck is front poach, back poach, timing width ect....

not perfect yet, but much better than other solutions so far.

by the way, your xenarc should be using the same panel as my digitalww. so you might want to dig a little further into advance config before callign it a day.

@ ptk - Did you use power strip for advanced timing tweaking?

http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/f...2rgb/calc.html VGA timing calculator! Give it the Xenarc XFree modeline and play with the settings some.

Once I get all my gear I'm going to spend quite some time messing with this

You mean the drivers that came with your video card, right? I'm using a on-board intel video right now. It would be nice to have a card that did 800x480.

i'm running at 1000x600 on my xenarc. i could not for the life of me get powerstrip to give me a good 800x480. it will look ok while i have powerstrip running but once i restart in 800x480 powerstrip doesn't auto start bc i don't like the nag screen and the screen is either too far right and up or it's all really small and squished. anyone have a screen shot of what the settings should be to get a good 800x480?

yup
the card is inno-3d, which is nVidia mx440 chipset. the driver is standard nVidia driver, which allows custom display resolution. in addition, it allows advance timing option.

apparently ATI Radeon does custom resolution but many reported problem with getting the timing right.

what platform are you using?

well, changes one by powerstrip is not permenant. so u need it to be running to display right. that is the advantage of using driver's option

ok well like everyone else i was lookin for 800x480 and knowing that it is not possable with epia m1000 even with powerstrip...I decided to try a pci video card if i dint work i would just take it back.....Well i bought a nvidia geforce fx 5500 pci card a bit pricey though ($110 at local frys) http://www.pny.com/products/verto/ma...am/5500pci.asp
it does 800x480 if u make it a custom resolution which is done threw nvidias driver, it is as easy as filling in 800 in 1 box and 480 in another set the refresh rate to 64 (that is what worked i still need to try higher rates maybe like 70 see if it cleans it up alittle) click apply and the rest is history the xenarc will display 800x480 and it reports properly on OSD..and from then on out the screen is at native resolution....BUT this is tested on my desktop comp which is a p4 2.6 ghz.....

SO

do you think this card will draw to much power and heat?
In front of me i have my parts

Epia m1000 512mg ddr pc2100

(pny technologies) geforce fx 5500 pci

Maxtor 200gig 3.5 7200 HD (most likely for just house testing..$89 straight
up at frys no rebate **** couldnt say no)

earthmate usb

usb sound http://www.xitel.com/product_hfl.htm

Opus 150watt

The opus will power this with room to spare i am hoping ...as i would like to add a slimeline dvd rom....am i right about this

Later,

by the way

According to Digitalww's product info, Armen's DWW-7VGA monitor use the same VGA module as Xenarc/Gain units. so the displaying timing values from Xenarc website might work

um maybe i wasnt clear enough, my fault. The fx 5500 card suports custom resolutions threw there nview utility....as far as the driver workin on other geforce cards i really have no idea, u would think it would work but it may have limitations i think the specific card you have must suport custom resolutions regardless of driver.....or at least thats kind of what im gathering from reading ****, that is why most people are havin problems with powerstrip...I mean have not seen a post that someone has gotten powerstrip to work with xenarc or lilliput...if so i would hope it would be known...Anyways someone correct me if im wrong about the video card needing custom resolution support to work properly regardless of driver
do you think this card will draw to much power and heat?

Fyi - the new nvidia 6800GT supports 800*480 right out of the box......
Cuz I know we all have an extra $400 to spend and all you need to do is also give it its own power supply...
