I don't think anyone taking a screen shot of a 800x480 screen is going to make any difference to you... most people see what they need to see on the screen and are happy about it. For us crazy tweekers, it is just frustrating to have a LCD panel that has a native resolution of 800x480 and not be able to feed it the same native signal without any geometric distortion etc...not that there is much in your case. If anything, you need to see a screenshot comparison between a proper 800x480 setup and one that is not correct, both using the exact same test image that can show you the amount of geometric distortion that is occuring; everything else being equal. For the most part however, it is just a technical annoyance, and your screen looks fine.

Best way to see the difference is by having your desktop background set to show a circular shape/item, on 800x600 it will be squashed, and with 800x480 is will look round

But it looks like 800X600 gives you more space, when I set my desktop to 800X480, my windows are cut off the bottom and windows keeps complaining that this is not the optimum resolution for this screen and asks me if I want to change it, if I say yes, it changes the resolution to 800X600.
Here is my desktop running 800X480, but when I check the OSD, it reports 640X480. Which one is it? I am confused...
Also when I download the Alpine Skin 848X480, it is cut off on the right side. How do I fix this?

Thank You, it worked...
So I guess then the OSD on lilliput is displaying the wrong resolution.
Is there any test I can do to see if the screen is displaying true 800X480 resolution?

Set your screen to 800x480 (native resolution of your liiliput, right?), then you just open this image in full screen.
If you have timings, and all screen adjustments right, you will see every white and black bar of this image, without distortion.

Ok, I set the picture as my desktop background, and this is what it looks like:
running 800X480 32bit color 60Hz: ( Does this look right?)
With the same settings at 800X600:

Not sure if this helps, but here ya's go. Someone else had posted a screenshot of their Powerstrip timings either in this thread or another. So I used those to see if I could get my setup to run at 800 x 480. As I typed their settings into Powerstrips' advanced timings I noticed some fields affected others. So I had to change each setting a couple of times until they all were the same (or close) to the ones from the screenshot. Note, I didn't have the "Real-time adjustment" option checked (even though it is checked in the picture).
I saved that configuration and restarted the computer and it seems to like those settings. My 7" Lilliput EBY701 still says 640x480. But the screen display looks correct. I've used some of the "test images" that I found in different threads and it seems to display those pictures accurately.
So if it's any help to anyone here are the Powerstrip settings I am using and will keep for my setup.

just my 2c:
i own a lilliput eby701 and tried a lot with different pcs, laptops to make it work with 800x480.
here are the results:
i'm almost sure, that the lilliput's internal menu NEVER shows 800x480. it always shows 800x600 or 640x480. i did feed it with 800x480 @70 and it showed a perfectly clear picture which you could identify as 800x480 (though the menu still showed 640x480).
what i did? i used sygic drive gps software. you can start that software with given resolution. when i started it with 640x480 it was to small, 800x600 was to large to display and 800x480 perfectly fit. also displaying the test image with black/white stripes showed a great picture.
i did use powerstrip to make the resolution available, and my lenovo t60 can handle that resolutions (60hz only - 70hz would look better).
hope that helps some ppl,
regards ize|man

I have a 2008 Lilliput 629. My motherboard, a socket A based mini-itx system, uses SiS Mirage graphics, and there is indeed an option to output at 800x480. However, when I select this, I get black bars at the top and bottom, and the screen's OSD displays 800x600. I don't understand why when setting the computer to the proper resolution, I'm getting bars!

Just sharing what I've learned; if it helps someone, then great.
I've had the best luck getting 800x480 out of Nvidia graphics cards. I tried using powerstrip + ATI, but it never really worked right for me. If you go the Nvidia route, use an older set of drivers, because it's easier (for me) to do custom resolutions using the older forceware software. I use http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71_2.html. With the card and drivers installed, it's just a matter of adding the custom resolution and specifying any custom timing you need and it works.
FYI- I use a GeForce FX 5200 PCI- works like a charm.

I used FX5200 cards too when I had my XP VIA M1200 CarPC...definately the best way to go. I think I have like 3 of them laying around now!
