Wholy *****! It WORKED! 800x480! I'm using an ATI Radeon X800 (Powercolor) with the display hooked up as secondary. Using PowerStrip.

Someone should tell Xenarc to update their FAQ...

interesting enough, I just re-read my lili 7" manual and the res in question is not listed at all.

my old compaq armada 6500 pII300 actually would suport this res. too bad its so slow.

My timings worked for your Radeon? It's kick-butt huh! I love it and I'm sure you do too a lot bette than the alternate 800X600.

I didn't want to have to go for a third party program that's why I was leaning more towards the Nvidia because of the custom res option they offered I new sooner or later someone would have gotten it to work.

Can you post some more details about your setup. Can you tell what exact card you bought and if you did any particular timing settings to get it to display correctly. Also does your lilliput report 800x480?

Is their any chance you know somebody with a lilliput and you could test it out? You gave the most complete review and i will get that exact card but i am curious if it will display correctly on the lilliput.

Thanks

@RedMage

what driver or applet did you use to set these settings? Did you use MSI drivers, or Nvidia drivers? Was this applet you used supplied by MSI or can every owner of a MX4000 card do the same thing you did?
Could you maybe post some pics of this applet?

thanx!!

hehe, I'm not using powerstrip. That's why I was so intent on using Nvidia because they provide such functionality. The Nvidia applet is provided with all relatively recent Nvidia GPU's or IGP's. Go to Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Choose the GeForce or whatever Tab. You may, however, have to update your drivers. Only the newer versions of the Nvidia drivers add support for custom resolutions.

From the same dialog as above there should be a "Nvidia on the Internet" button, click and continue to download the current drivers. After there there should be a "Custom Resolution" section in the applet.

I have a M6K and a Xenarc. Instead of fighting the system and adding a video card, I just set the resolution to 640x480 @ 60Hz. It looks great. The scaler inside the display does all the work.
Some benefits:
1) Performance: lower source resolution means the internal video frame buffer is smaller which translates to fewer pixels for the CPU to draw.
2) Font sizes: You don't have to select "extra large fonts" for things to be readable.

I needed the newest drivers. I found them and installed them. I copied your settings (weird way of entering them though, I had to type in the numbers backwards?!?) and it works!! Nice clear screen!

Sorry antimatter, I only have a Xenarc, so again no step further for you
