Controller
BTW the controller I have is marked EPAP-200C. Not sure if this is the same one that you experienced the same problem with, I will have a camara on Friday and will post pictures of the board. There is info on my controller here
Sorry I have not gotten around to starting the thread yet, I am tring to research it first. I found this old thread and have just started mulling through it but it is a long one so far it has been full of info.

Who are they and how much do they charge? Let us know what the result is!

The price varies depending on LCD size, it was $180 for a 6.5". I'll say who they are when I get the results - no free advertising, and misleading fellow forum mates, if they suck!

I know this is an old post, but this is the same screen in the BMW navigation and its only RGB. They may have a 1200X400 that may be VGS but your right real expensive and not a retail product that you could easly use.
Has anyone expereimented with some sort or anti glare product they use on office computers. I think 3M sells some flexiable material that you can put in from of the screen. What I find a problem is not the direct sunlight but the reflection on things near the screen that kills me. My bmw nav screen looks great compared to the xenarc. I also noticed that my bmw screen has some blueish looking anti-glare coating on it. I would love to find something like that but I think I read in a post that the coating is applied in a controlled enviorment.

I think I posted the results in another thread, but ah well, it's probably buried away somewhere and I'm too lazy to look for it.
The screen turned out great. Quite readable in direct sunlight. Note though that they said the process works best on NEC panels, so that's what I got; so effectively I got the best case scenario, and I can't say how well the results hold up for other makes.
The company is FPD Design Group ( www.fpdgroup.com). They seem to have raised their sample prices though... $250 for a 6.5" conversion now

Mushin,
I contact that company and spoke to a guy named Joseph. Great guy....He can do the mod for $180 for the LCD and $125 to put a AR coating on both sides of the touchscreen. I am thinking about doing this. I may even purchase a new LCD from Xenarc if the price is right and an extra TS wich is about $65. Also, in looking at there site they offer a High Bright / Optical Enhancement. whats up with that. I am not sure if theres a thread on this but I am curious to know if someone got this upgrade and likes the results.

hey, I just talked to them myself... they said that people on here actually have had the lilliputs done... I'm curious how those turned out cause I would rather not buy the nec cause they are smaller, lower in res and the lilliput allready is molded into my dash. Anybody want to cough up some knowledge on the lilliput conversion?

Yeah, I think Joseph is the guy I delt with. A class act. Glad to hear they're offering it at the lower price.
I'm not aware of anyone's who's done the conversion with a lilliput - the last several times this discussion's popped up they havn't revealed themselves - but I'm curious to hear about it if they have.
dmcdlrn - NEC (or Sharp, which I think they said is the second best) makes a wide variety of panels, in various sizes and resolutions, so that shouldn't be a limiting factor. Lilliput is going to be cheaper though - and in your case you already have one, so that's a no-brainer .

the only catch is he wants me to just send hime the LCD, they dont want to be responsible for taking apart the whole VGA. I am trying to get another LCD becuase, you know, I cannot go two weeks without it.
I know its a panasonic so I guess I need to head over to the Xenarc FAQ....

interesting, I dont remember anyone else discussing having this done to there lilli's and i would think for a 180 bucks there would be many more.
NEC does make a wide verity of panels, the problem is that you almost never find the good ones on ebay, you really have to hunt them down.

ya, well I know that the engineer was over his shoulder when I talked to him, and said that he had done lilliputs before for guys on a forum... I was like what forum... and hes like... I don't know it was mp3 something. So I figure must be this place.
I am willing to buy another screen if I have to, but my lilliput is normally bright enough when there isn't any glare or direct sunlight. So, the direct sunlight shouldn't be a problem cause the 2 way mirror in the upgrade will compensate, and the glare is supposed to be reduced using the anti-glare layers they add. I also don't think anybody would want to buy my lilliput as I have removed the speaker and replaced it with a fan cause it would overheat... course it doesn't now, so its better, but you wouldn't want to have the back exposed cause its not smooth.
Lucky for me I park the car in about a month cause I have a winter car, so I can do all my work during that time, but I know where your comming from JPuma! Maybe I can just use the lilliput for my digital dash I want to make.
Oh, they didn't seem to have a ton of sizes... they only offered what was under the products section and the best they have is a 6.5 at 640 x 480... thats no good, it will make a mess of all my software and crap I've built.
