VIDEO groud loop isolator

My headunit is a Pionner AV system with a 7" LCD. I believe I am having a ground loop with my headunit. I have a total of 8 LCDs in my car, none of them have video static except for the one with the headunit. The static is there whether I switch from computer, VCR, or PS2. The static is gone when I have the engine turned off.

None of the other LCDs have static, so I believe it's not the source causing the problem.

After research, I believe I am having a ground loop between my headunit and other AV equipments.

Will grounding my headunit and other AV equipment together with the same ground solve the problem? Only problem is my headunit is grounded in the front of the car while everything else is grounded in the trunk. If I have to ground it together, then I would have to run a long 6ft wire from the front of the car to the back.

Someone also suggested about cutting the shield on the video cable so that it is not grounded with my headunit. Will that work? How can I put the shield?

Lastly, have anyone tried any Video Ground Loop Isolator? Where can I find them?

Interesting question about a video ground loop isolator. If the signal is composite with a phono plug (RCA) I wonder if you could just use one channel of a "audio" GLI.

man i had the same problem as you with my old civic when i hooked up my xbox. i took to to stero shop. where my friend works and he told me mostly it happening from the computer chip in the. i think its called ecs or something. anyways, just seperate the video cable from the power behind the tv. that should do the trick.

Yeah, I was going to say to make sure the A/V cables don't run alongside any power cables.

I tried to use one channel from the ground loop isloator bought from radio shack and it didn't work as I expected since video and sound run at a different frequency. I do not think it is the video picking up noise from power cable as I tried running different cable at different location with same results.

One thing I tried today was touching one end of a wire that's connected to ground to the RCA input terminal and it made most of the video hum go away.

Maybe I will have to pick up one of those video ground loop isolator but they are expensive.
