Got an invention, not sure where to start
hey, im new to mp3car but i got a quick question and if anyone can answer that would be great. My idea is to be able to change the color of your car by the flip of a switch. You would have a plastic sheet which would be the screen so that it will be able to display the color chosen for you car. The screen/monitor itself would have to be flexible, transparent, able to cut so you can have it fit any car, and would have to be able to display color. Now i figured that if any body had the answer on wut kind of material i could use to make this i would greatly appreciate it.

actually, the military has been dicking around with something like this for the use of camoflauge, so not a solid color, but something to fully blend in with the surroundings.... i read about it at least a year or two ago.

Not worth the money. It's basicly a worthless feature that would add many thousands to the cost of the car.

Check this out: http://www.beingseen.com/sheets.html
Maybe something like this? EL Sheets? I guess they would have to be translucent though to let other colors thru.

I'll tell ya what... I don't care how crazy or stupid an idea you might have... anytime you (or anyone else here) has an invention... first stop would be to check for existing patents... if there is NOT one already owning your idea... you should apply for a design patent... do this BEFORE telling ANYONE about your idea... next step would be to empliment the idea... I will spare you the boring details but I have personally come up with a couple ideas for some kewl stuff in the past... I blew it off for lack of motivation and funds to take it to the next step... BOTH of the ideas I had are NOW available and making serious money IMO... I have since spoken to a small business person and will never pass up an idea... no matter how silly or stupid it is... if the idea has potential, you can always find financial backing... if your lacking the motivation (and the thought of making bank doesn't help you)... well your a worthless POS and should run yourself over with your own car... ok, just kidding on that last part! lol Good luck!

What is the first step to getting an idea/invention patented? I read big companies steal patents from the little guys. I guess that could be some kind of conspricy theory thing.

confidentiality letter before you even tell them..
This way, ifd they do it, and you can prove it, you get most of what they made...
Now if they sell the idea and you can't prove it, your screwed
