Question Xenarc VGA+RCA screen -- mirroring?

Someone with a Xenarc -- can you help me here?

I'm looking at buying one of the Xenarc VGA touchscreens, but I have a question concerning the video-in -- will it mirror video, like for a backup camera? Can you set one of the video-in ports to "always mirror", so it will always mirror that particular camera?

Thanks all,

Christopher Jastram

I don't believe so... I'll try to remember to check.

Couple more questions...

Can you turn the backlight down?

Is there an online product manual available so I don't have to ask all these dumb questions?

Yeah, it's got a brightness adjust.

http://xenarc.com/product/700ts.html

BTW... they say it works 11-24VDC, but I can personally vouch for it working down to about 10.2.

Asked Xenarc

I called Xenarc and asked them about mirroring -- their VGA screens don't support it. The 5.7 analog screen does, but none of the VGA screens. Oh well.

The drivers for logitech webcams have an option to vertically and / or horizontally flip it.

Thanks, all

Mirrored camera, eh? Never thought of it. I should go look it up. Thanks.

re: logitech cams at 640x480... uh, I don't know. I think they'll do 25 fps, but it might be only 11 because of usb1.1 bandwidth constrictions. I'll look around.

Thanks everyone

Stay away from the cheap logitechs, expect to spend at least $60 and get the logitech Pro 4000 or similar (I think i have the 3000) and resolution or fps won't be a problem. It doesn't perform well in low light, but really no worse then most other cameras that don't do IR or don't have some specific low light capability.

It looks like Logitech does their mirroring with software -- does anyone know of a fairly low-cost camera that mirrors in hardware? Tall order, I know.

I'm wondering because I'd like to either plug directly into the screen, or pass it through a linux carputer. The latter is preferable, but I don't know of any software that does video mirroring in linux.

Is there software that does video mirroring in linux?

I understand that X has support for XRandR, which should do the trick. Unfortunately, I could not find any video cards that are supported. Ideas? Hints?

Thanks all

Chris
