svideo TV-out quality on a lcd???

Has anyone experienced tv-out from a PC on a standard TFT screen? My motherboard has it built in svideo out and since I don't have a vga screen yet, I was thinking of using a standard TFT using the tv out. Any comments?

many do it, text in windows is hard to read, but you can set it up so it's managable. Front end such as mediacar, frodo etc look fine.

search the show off your project forum to find examples.

I use a sony XAV-7W head unit. I've been using it now for over a year and I like it. I have the text sized just right and my GPS works great with it (IGuidance 2.0). I think it's just a mater of taste. I had a 7" Xenarc but just didn't have the space for it. The sony unit folds in and out. I use 4AM music console for mp3 play back and that looks great also.

I haven't really planned on GPS at the moment. I live in a small town and don't really go anywhere. After I get caught up on some bills i'll look at some vga touch screens but for now I'm looking for a second best solution.

I think if i were in your shoes i would go with the s-video for now then - save yourself a few pennies and get it up and running. S-video is much better than composite so you got nothing to lose.

Do any of the non-vga tft screens take a s-video connector? I've looked at a few and it doesn't look like it's too common.

If so very few, but a s-video to RCA connector is like 5 bucks.

That's true... but doesn't that degrade the signal? I think I'm going to get a vga touch screen afterall, I don't want to short change myself by penny pinching on such an important part.
