Ar, those pictures be from the old less bright version 1.0 xenarc matey.
Also I don't think they were taken under the best of conditions, I wouldn't take them to be true measure of the xenarc vs lilliput.

I'm absolutely NOT saying that, I don't have data either way. I'm happy with my Lilliput, and I know of hundreds of other people who seem to be happy with theirs, but that's not enough to make a statement like 'they is the same' or 'this one is better'.
There was a thread recently where people posted what screen they had and if it worked, and there were definately more lilliputs broken then Xenarcs, but the survey wasn't scientific, so...
Here's how I figure it, a Xenarc is about half again as expensive as a Lilliput. If I buy a Lilliput that's DOA, then I go through the hassle of sending it back and getting a replacement. Total cost, maybe $15 shipping and some time. That's 10% the money cost of deciding to go with Xenarc upfront.
If I need to get a Lilliput repaired, I'm pretty sure I can have it repaired for less then the price difference between the two.
If the touchscreen wonks out, I can get a replacement one for < $40 I figure.
It seems that if I decided to buy a Xenarc, it would be best that I'm making the decision that it must do something better upfront or be a company I want to do business worth, and that I'm paying specifically for that. If I try to convince myself it's because I'll spend more money in the long run on the Lilliput, then I'm not convinced.
As of 11/15/2004, my Lilliput works great, despite abuse. <shrug> To each their own.

Okay heres the deal you can get a Lilly for about a hundred dollars less but my thoughts were that if anything goes wrong than you can at least get it replaced or repaired here... in the USA ahhhh....nuff said for me infact if you ask dealers that sell both they will point this out to you

no, but its common knowledge electronics made in asia are inexpensive simply becuase labor is cheap, but the quality is not near the same
it all comes down to you get what you pay for
and back to you tbird,,, yes i had 3 all from the same suplier but still,,, 3 seperate ones that failed in 2 different ways.
I dont see too much of a difference between the 2 looks wise but as for how it is built it is obvious the Xenarc is assembled to last, as soon as i got mine the same day i hacked the screen all up just because after i tested it i could tell the thing was built solid. didnt have a second thought about it. If i could do it over again i would of bought a xenarc up front and saved the mos i put into the lilli
its all opinion though,,, you might get one that works and lasts

No i have a 3m VGA extension cable, and USB cable and my Xenarc is clear as a bell.

The screen going blurry is most likely a poor connection at the lilliput 9-pin din connector. This connector is a pos. Waggle it around a bit.

this thread shows many various post about problems with lilliput compared to xenarc.
I originally reported no problems... BUT... as of late... my lillput is really, really blurry. Every now and then it appears clear, and in a few days/reboots -- it's back to blurry.

Maybe it will offer you some comfort to know that my next monitor purchase will not be a lilliput.

Thanks! That was my second guess.
Along this line, I've had some discussion with a few others regarding replacing this 9-din connector. Has anyone attempted and successfully accomplished such a task?

yes you can replace the 9 pin connector, do a search. I cut out the connector and hardwired mine, works perfect now. I still have issues with the touchscreen along the right side of the screen, but everything else about my lilli is great.
Tbird, if you only have issues with the touchscreen, wouldn't it be more cost efficient to just get a different touchscreen overlay rather than buy a xenarc?

Had my Lili for two months, works pretty good, but on long trips it gets real hot and I have had it shut off. Now a long trip for me is about an hour or so, so I'm not sure is that is standard. Praying it doesn't start acting up, 300-400 is kinda steep after the initial 260 for the lili.

Back to the original topic--- Xenarc sounds better than Lilliput. I mean when you pronounce them. Xenarc sounds high tech.. "Lilliput" reminds me of butterflies and lillies, but that's just me. I'm just a newbie. Use the search button.
