Rear window lcd display.

Would any one be interested if I made a kit that would hook up to your car (power and brake lights) and had a touch pad with pre programed messages. You could hook up an lcd/vfd in your back window and send messages to the car behind you (like "STOP" when the breaks are pressed). Let me know if there is any intrest in this and I might make some kits.

... even show short movie/video clips of a foot pressing the break peddal for 'em

...image recognition of 'the finger' == snaps a pic of their license plate and shows them the captured image... then "dialing your local police"

gawd this could be fun.

meanwhile driver behind distracted by having to read your LCD ploughs into the back of your car without even hovering over his brake pedal let alone pressing it, writing off the back of your car, carPC and said rear window LCD display.

Just so you know, depending on the mood of your local police officer you can be ticketed for those things. I know one person that got a ticket just for having a sticker over his third brakelight so it said "STOP" - he was told it was a distraction to other drivers. Again - depends on what kind of mood the cop is in.

That being said, you could also pick one up here rather than make your own:

I kind of doubt this is legal....or smart. Kind of appeals to my sense of humor though

I would rather having something you would "request on the fly" then anything automatic.

It would also be better with a big led display for lecture at a distance.

I would myself like to say things to the guy behind me, it would be great, but I am afraid of interpretation and its consequences - let's read: road rage amplification from dumb people.

A buddy had one of those large LED displays (one line scrolling like 8 leds tall like you see in businesses) it was mounted in the back of his old blazer with 10 pre-stored messages "nice turn signal there"; "Get off my *** already!" ... the RF remote sat in the cup holder. Pick it up and punch 1, display (printout on the back of remote told what each preset message said) Again a kind of stupid idea from some college guys due to the fact he was given the display. Today there is not a chance I would do that. People get too ticked off. All they do is call the cops on the cell phone and say "this guy in front of me is drunk - he is all over the road" you spend the next 30 minutes passing the DUI test and explaining to the police the person was just trying to get back at you for calling them a name via your electronic display.

Heck some dude just shot and killed someone last week over a door ding at a local video rental parking lot. Too many people have guns and too many are stupid about that stuff and are too eager to get even.

Oh I'm sure some police would ticket your butt for it. Around here the police would just say "WOW, thats cool how much for one?" It would probably not be a good idea to make a scrolling message one the screen. The key pad was more for people to show off when in parking lots and places cops arn't so picky about. Kind of like car strobes but better.

Edit: I can see why my friend moved away from colorado
