i want to hardwire my lilliput to my car using the cigarette lighter adapter.. i cut off the end, and have two wires. One is completely black and the other wire has a white stripe. Which one is + and -
I'm assuming the white stripe is positive but want to make sure.

Take apart the end that plugs into the lighter. The wire that is
solder to the pin is the +. Yes it is the white stripe.

I don't know for sure since my screen is coming in the next few days but what I'd do is just check it with a voltmeter / multimeter. They're relatively cheap and having one will help you install a carputer immensely.

Consider skipping the egg and just wiring power directly from your computer power supply. The regulator in the egg cuts the voltage a little and affects screen brightness. Your ATX power supply should already be regulated 12v, and you can easilly make a molex plug that provides 12v without permanently modifying your PS.
I do this for my car, my lilliput is powered off my Opus. Advantages, when I turn on the computer, the monitor powers on at the same time. Same with powering off.

do not hard wire to your cigeratte lighter. This is because it is not a clean regulated voltage and it spikes up and one day it will fry your lilliput!

Right, you'll still use the egg, correct?
I did the same thing (with the egg) the screen flickered and actually caused unwanted noises. Better off doing what Chairboy said.

Buy a female molex to connect to one of the male power molexes from your psu. Wire it up so that the white stripe wire for the lilli goes to yellow and the other one goes to black. Plug it in and you are done. You could always cut the yellow and black wires from your psu and solder them to the correspoding lilli wires if you want to skip buying the molex.

No problem. Don't forget to lose the egg as you won't need it anymore.
