Question Wireless Touchscreen LCD???

Hey Guys, I am wondering if anyone makes a wireless touchscreen LCD screen?? I have searched and searched and turned up nothing. . . .

If not do all touchscreen LCD's require you to plug them into a USB port for the touchscreen feature to work??

Thanks for any info, I plan on making one if I can't find one but finding the right parts is proving difficult and expensive. . . .

Justus

What do you mean? Do you want to have the touchscreen-part wireless or also the screen-part? The touchscreen-part can be made wireless with not too much difficulties. When you use a touchscreen with RS-232, it is pretty easy. There are all sorts of products to make RS-232 wireless, bluetooth for instance. But how to transport your screen-signal wireless... I don't know if that's easy... I'm sure there will be products to do so...

I want a completely wireless (LCD and touchscreen) montior b/t 5"-7"
Well I think I might have found a wireless transmitter and receiver to make the video wireless (mostly used for sending camera signals).
Thanks for the tip on the RS-232, do you have anymore info. on making the touchscreen part wireless?? I want a pretty good range, like being able to go outside the car for instance.
Thanks again,
Justus

I am pretty sure Panasonic do a wireless touchscreen in their toughbook range but it aint cheap. M$ and viewsonic were supposed to be looking ta it too before tablets i think as you can effectively have full PC power in a small device.

Here at my work, we use the Wireless Futures BlueWave. This is hardware which creates a wireless COM-cable (up to 100 mtrs). You can find information on their website: Wireless Futures

I have seen the viewsonic, but not the other two. I like the panisonic but I don't want a screen that large. I want b/t a 5"-7" monitor, and I am pretty set on making my own now
Rum - Thanks for the link Iwill be checking that out.

But that would ruin the fun of research and development
And I am way to deep into the research part now

Another alternative is to buy a USB->LAN adapter and then LAN-WLAN, and of course WLAN at the computer. Hope you don't mean to get the touchscreen entirely wireless, the power would be a problem then

Thanks for the idea, I have looked into a LAN setup, and yeah I am talking about the whole touchscreen wireless. I think I have the power figured out

just be ready to spend the bucks... and video quality will be pretty bad, so as long as you don't want to read small text, have stereo sound, etc - you'll be fine... but a $1000 web pad will whoop your setup anyday... this doesn't even get into the size of what you are making - rechargeable battery packs, video handling, serial connection - what I am seeing will be closer to a cube in shape...

those 900MHz and 2.4GHz video broadcasters are mostly directional, so this means you can only move in a straight line... audio is mono on all but the most expensive units... these video units use the composite video, so text will be difficult to read...

my two cents...

you could get a serial touchscreen and use a serial--->bluetooth adapter. I think dragonBTV has made one.
