Exclamation Anyone with experience of Liliput 8" VGA TS

Howdy folks,
just wondering if anybody has any experiences to share about the Lilliput 8" VGA Touchscreen...

My 7" Lilli's TS has died and I am sending back for a replacement which has already been agreed with the seller, however, I was wondering whether or not offer her the extra £25 and ask for an 8" in return...

This screen is native 800x600 @4:3 and so would get rid of my quest for 800x480. And also provide a slightly larger viewable area. And the picture would also be a lot clearer wouldn't it when running on native res.

The actual case width is only about 15mm different so it will still fit in my car.

Any advice is welcome, except that telling me to buy a Gain/Xenarc, as she won't refund my money, only exchange screens. And she only deals with Lilliput, or AV-4u as they seem to be badged now...

Are you sure the native resolution is 800*600? When I asked the Lilliput-seller at Ebay what the native resolution was, they responded 640*480. Is there two diffrent Lilliput 8" TS out there? I have read something about two different versions and one of them had a cheaper 640*480 Sharp LCD. Maybe you should stay away from this screen?

My 8" lilliput native resolution is 800x600. there is even a little sticker on the back that says something like for best picture run at 800x600

My touchscreen did go on my 8" lilliput after 3-4 days of using it, contacted Armen and he sent me a new screen. So far no problems with the new unit after 2 days of using it. It's kinda funny since Armen listed a 8" lilliput with no touchscreen for sale, that might be my old one!

Anyways my problem might be rare, I haven’t heard about any problems with 8" lilliputs. Oh and BTW: on my 7" lilliput I have never had a problem with the touchscreen and I have had it for about a year or so.

Can enyone offer any suggestions to why I cant get my 8" Lilliput TS to work on my Laptop...

The units works no problems on my desktop, I get the following problems when loading up the software...

Laptop - toshiba 4600
op sys - windows XP pro (still on SP1)

Problems:
Error message, "Unable to remove support files, RPC server unobtainable" this error message comes up half way thru installation, its searching for com ports. It seaches thru some com ports then the install is stopped, no programs are loaded in the start menu (They are loaded into the correct file location)

Then when I open up the touchkit.exe file it shows not controller and also have no monitor.

The USB devise driver loads up ok, just cant get the touch screen part working....

Can anyone lend me some knowledge that will fix this problem...

How is the brightness compare to a 7" Lilliput? Anyone have experiences with both?

How do these compare to the Xenarc 8"?
