CAR TFT orders from uk anyone
Hi all,
just wondering whether anyone else has ordered from the within the UK? I have placed an order and found they do not take credit or debit cards so I have to do it via wire transfer. I am still i the process of sorting my paypal and decided i could not wait that long, so it has to be wire transfer.
Problem is Natwest (large UK highstreeet bank) charges 25 pounds (34 euros) to do a transfer! This is the same with most high street Uk banks. I informed carTFT of this and said is there another way of doing this as it is too expensive doing it this way. CarTFT then said tell the bank the benificiary will absorb the cost. So i did. Basically, this amount gets deducted off the amount the company receives. Now they are saying they have not received enough cash to process the order. But they were informed how much it would cost me and hence them.
Has anyone else had any experience of this type of tranfer. I get the impression Uk banks charge a lot for this compared with the European banks.
There is a law that says that transfers between europe should not exceed a certain amount, i think its 10 pounds. But this only applies when the currency is in euros. If it starts in pounds like in the UK then you are not covererd.
Nick

Thanks Potillo,
but i have already transferred the cash! Unless I ask for it back and incur another cost, then I have to wait again!
oh well, seems as if the banks have their way again....

can you not just do an online transfer if you have their bank details? i do that to pass money between accounts and pay things like flat deposits to landlords and it doesnt cost anything. or is it because it is transfering out of the uk?

just to let you know, i found a really good, reasonably cheap mini-itx uk retailer. They do epia boards and cases and stuff like that:

scouse-monkey - i like your 306, phase 2s are sexy. I've got a phase 1 and have recently installed my monitor in the dash like you wanted to. I'll post pics in the appropriate section later

Cartft also takes paypal cant you use that route ?
as to the short payment, tell Oliver that you will make it up on the next order, I have also encouraged him to get a payment system that is more internationally friendly ! The more of us that complain may mean he will do something sooner.
You should see the grief we have to go through from South Africa to order !!!

Scouse Monkey, unfortuntely the banking numbers are different - Germany uses 8 digit BLZ instead of our 6 digit sort codes. So online transfer no go.
Mini-ITX dont do Xenarc, which is what I am after, as far as I know.
Paypal have been really slow the last 2 weeks. My account has been locked due to an error and they still have not sorted it. I have set up a new one using a different account but it still takes 7-10 days. The whole banking payment thing is a fraud as I am sure we all know. Clearing is now done in 9 hours, the rest of the time it is earning the banks interest.
The Xenarcs in the UK are too expensive - 320 pounds compared to 250 in germany. I presume some smaller companies find payment by credit card to expensive a system as they have to pay a fee for each transaction.
SO frustrating - I have the funds but not the means to transfer it!! Why should I pay 25 pounds for a international bank transfer. It would be cheaper and faster to post the cash insured by Fedex or something!! Could I do this, I will check it out.
I will try to get Oliver to post it and add on the funds to another order. It is not his fault, I geuss he does not realise how expensive UK banks are!!

can't you just send a cheque? Or can't you wait for it to clear?

Hi Nick
I am from Greece and I have the same problem with you. All the "good" sites are in USA. They have everything but few only can ship directly to Europe. I have a friend in US and she is buying the goods and ship them to me. But I don't want to do this all the time.
In greece also there is almost 30-40 euro charge for payments, so this is the same in the whole world.
I want the Xenarc also, do you know any site in Germany that sells them?
If yes you are like because you don't pay customs!!!! To avoid to pay customs in EU, you must tell to the company (outside of EU) that send you the goods that the value is around 100 Euro, so you will not pay customs!!! I've done it 3 times with goods that was 500-800 euros!
If you have can find a Xenarc distributor in EU I'll be glad to hear your news.
Michael

Spoke to Oliver today and we sorted the difference out. He has agreed to ship it. He is quite reasonable in this respect. Now to wait for the final part of the project.....
