Smile Xenarc at CES Show in Vegas!

Hey all,

I'm not sure who went to CES 2005 Show in Vegas .... but I did :0)

Anyway, I stopped by Xenarc's booth, and asked about the Motorized In-Dash LCD with VGA and the guy told me that not anytime this year

Oh well ..... And I also stopped by Shuttle's booth, and they had some nice car installs, with Xenarc LCDs and they looked very nice. The show in general was very good ... but I'm now tired of walking and my feet hurt, ha!

Just thought I should let you guys know.

PS: Lilliput was there also ... but I didnt stop by because I just had like 20,000 more booths to look at!

NOT THIS YEAR????

Oh great. just the news we were all hoping to hear. Oh well, I hope this other one will be out this month, see the motorized vga thread. Ya know, it's kinda BS how long GAIN is making us wait for that screen. I ordered my first sample of it in 2003.. Still no word.

That company has put a lot of effort into marketing the car computer with TRC and trying to get mainstream. They really need the indash to make it work.

Maybe he didn't realise 2004 had finished and he was trying to make a sly joke but he...kinda didn't?

I'm guessing that they must not have understood which model I was asking about. Were the single din 7" motorized displays in their booth not VGA or touchscreen? They told me that the model on display was in production and should be available in about a month. I thought I was pretty clear when I asked about a single din, 7" touchscreen, VGA, motorized monitor-but I was pretty tired by the time I made it to Xenarc I just wanted and answer and not to spend a bunch of time bsing. They did give me a free t-shirt

Stopped by the Xenarc booth and asked about the motorized in-dash VGA touchscreen pre-production model they had on display. They said it was going to retail for about $699-$799, and should be ready in a month or two.

They were running the displays 800x480, and it looks pretty good. However, using touchscreen on that resolution is always tricky because your finger is bigger than the window icons/buttons.

Stick your finger in a pencil sharpener

$700 for a motorised screen! Well i guess that puts it is line with other top end screens like sony and pioneer only this has VGA and touchscreen so is miles better!

Yeah, yeah yeah.
I'll believe it when I see it. I'm hopeful, but skeptical.

You do realize that icons can always be made larger....

Of course, it just makes the ones they had on the floor a little unusable unless you have a finger-mounted stylus.

quick call to xenarc and the rep said that they did *not* have a motorized version (having prodcution issues?), but rather a spring-load version that will be available asap -- does this guy just not know what he's talking about or what?!?

I too went to CES, however that place is HUGE!!! So I didn't even know Xenarc was there, but I did go to shuttle's booth. By far the best booth was Creative's though because they gave me a free MP3 player! And you want to know the best part? I didn't even have a CES badge!
