LINITX transplanted into DIGTIAL WW housing
done it!!
digitalWW was ****ed - even after i sent it back so in a fit of rage pulled it apart and was dismayed to se that my brand new Linitx monitor wouldnot fit in the dash housing.
so swapped em! re-wiredbuttons and havent lostany functionality.
now linitx goes in dash
only thing is i really liked the linitx housing - nice rubbery feel to it!
nevermind
Got plenty of spare parts if anyone wants any?
Nick

Nice one! You must now have the most intimate knowledge of the internal of the linITX than anyone here. What monitor did you have originally? How does the internals compare in respect to observable build quality etc. Sounds like you just ripped the thing apart and got it done but did you happen to get any pics?
Could possibly fit in the new motorised housing.

You said it! The current motorised is for the lilliput isnt it? With Xenarc following.

erm, I may well be being really thick here, newb status glowing and everything.
But i'm clutching a 7" linitx screen and *staring* at my dash wondering where to put it.... an in dash would sort me right out.
which parts of the linitx did you put in the case? did you keep the original housing for the screen on the digital ww affair...
basically, can you give any pointers about *how* you did it, 'cause i'm totally tempted to grab one of these housings now, but am in a state of total cluelessness about them.
Thanks in advance for anything you send my way, even if it's a slap and a couple of search terms.
grassy ***...
{edit} bloody silly question... why can't you just weld the housing from the linitx to the bracket on the in dash? is it too deep or something... there's one hell of alot of soldering to get these things in it seems... {/edit}

Hi Cat,
I am thinking slide out too. we had a bit of 306 dash discussion here: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/fabrication/37851-slim-vents-need-ideas.html
Will be interesting to see how the LinITX goes after being transplanted. Keep up posted if you get to put it though a decent amount of use.
EDIT: Nick, pm sent

Slow down tiger!
First of all the only reason i transplated was because the LinITX monitor would not fit in DigitalWW InDash Housing - i used the case off another monitor (old Xenerac) that i knew did fit and basically put the LinITX inards in the oldXenerac which was bust.
So you need a screen casing that will fit first!!
Busy all the bust lilliput ones off the guys here!

But but, I'm really excited
This would be *so* much simpler than hacking my whole dash out.
please excuse my youthful petulence :/
I shall have to wait for "pay" before experimentation... i'll start running with a bracket on my screen for now.
p.s. thanks for the thread link scouse

pm'ing as well for complication.
Ok, after running my car for a week or so with the pc in, and looking at different places and options for the monitor, I recon in dash is going to be the way to go, I've got a place to relocate my head unit, and I'm saving the cash to get a digitalww in dash for my linitx.
The question is this.
Were the guts of the linitx put into the case that ships with the digitalww indash affair, or into another case.
Were there any extensive modifications done to the layout or connections in the linitx?
I really can't afford to stuff this up, so any guidance would be cool.
