Awesome info! I'll probably do this one day just to make me feel better that the screen will run a little cooler. Where can i get a fan like that? Do regular stores sell ones that small? (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) Thanks

I know this thread is super old, but I got 3 Lilliputs also and Im thinking of doing this also. I had 2 fans blowing air in, but the screen still seemed to get hot, so now Im going to go head and remove the speaker and draw air out....

This is why you sweat and you feel cool when a fan blows on you. However, electrical components don't sweat.
BTW, I was actually gonna do this to my Lilly too. Thanks for the pics Don!

Does this also apply to PC cases? I was thinking of having a large fan blow air in, and other fans blowing air out. Should I reverse it and have the large fan draw the air out and the 2 smaller fans on the sides blow in?

I have 2 other lilliputs that I will do this to. I just wish that I had done it before the Touchscreens got out of whack.

Also, I have the fan blowing out so that it draws air into the thin slots around the outer side of the case....

I would recomend this to everyone !!!!! total cost $10 for small 12v fan.

(hint) make sure circuit board has clearance before hot glue dries

and WHY would you recommend this?

Does the Lilliput need cooling?
I have the 889GL and have the LCD out of its housing and mounted to a dash adapter. I didn't really think it needed an external cooling source.

It all depends on the Lilliput you have and how the lighting is being produced. The LED versions of course do not need this, but for CCFL units that are inclosed in a tight space, need this mod. Mine start to over heat after about 3 minutes.... Im hoping that doing this mod will help out alot.

how is this determined?
I honestly have no idea what the 889GL uses.

If the amplifier is a TDA7052A/AT you should be able to supply 0.2V to the audio input to get almost 12V at the output with enough power to drive a fan (Gain is 35dB at max vol, 55 times input voltaje). You can take out audio input capacitor or just leave it and don't connect audio input.

The problem is audio volume control is logaritmic, this is a must for audio, but it's not good for fan control. You will have big voltage steps, depending on how much steps has lilliput volume control.
