Post what is the best way to built a "7" tft in my dashboard?

Hi,

I am I-1 and I have a Ford Escort MK4 (1988)
I want to built in a "7" inch TFT somwhere in my car...

These are my wishes:

- I want to built in the 7 inch tft
- I want to built it in a way that I can hide it if needed

The problem is that I can't leave it open in my neighbourhood...because they will try to steal it.

Does somebody have expierience or suggestions how I can do this the best way?

It's also important that it is good vissible and i'ts going to be a touchscreen ...so it has to be solid also...

I have no idea where to start ...and I hope you guys have an idea...

Thanks for helping me out,

Bye

For purposes of safety having an in-dash can be easier to hide since you can simply push it in. However if you really wanna build it into dash, then I would suggest you build in a little cover for it. Hard to explain but basically when you need to use it you just push back the cover, and vice versa when you want to hide it. How this would be done with your dash I wouldn't know.

Probably be a bit simpler for people if they could seen a pic of dash.

also another idea @ http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/general-hardware-discussion/41768-sweet-screen-hider-idea.html

Possibly simplest would be relocate the heater controls and vents to the holder by the gearstick then fabricate the screen where they currently are then buy a second hand dash plate to fit over the screen when not in use

Hi,

Maybe I can use this:

in combination with this one:

And try to fit the indash LCD case where my heater controls and vents are at the moment....

But I don't know how the indash LCD case looks like from the front...
Does anyone have pics of this?

Thanks,

A junkyard or the dealer.

That's how they're designed. If you get the piece for teh same year/make/model/options, it should fit just fine.

And that's the same in-dash housing that K-E-X was referring to. They also have a pre-made non-motorized in-dash Liliput screen. It's pretty much plug -n-play for what you want.

I allready saw that ...but then the problem with that is is that if the screen is hidden there are still nice types of buttons see here:

and if a expieriened thief sees that ...I am ending up with the same
