no signal when in park

Well, here is another problem to add to the giant list of what seems to be neverending. I just installed a geforce 5500 video card, and noticed that sometimes, when I put my car in park, the video shuts off, and my touchscreen flashes no signal. The pc remains running though. When I shut my car off, and restart it, the pc turns back on, and everything works fine. Does anyone have a clue as to why this may be happening? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you could reverse that, you'd end up with a legal video setup. Ironic.

lol...that's true! When I put it back in drive, nothing happens. It just remains off, but the pc stays running. I noticed that if i'm playing audio in Frodo, that too shuts off. Does anyone have an idea of why this may be happening. I'm afraid to add that am using a PW-70a and ITPS....could that be part of my problem? Thanx!

sounds like it may be going into standby. this explains it sounding like your pc is still running but not getting any audio/video. why it is being activated when you put it into park, i wouldnt know.

Why don't you tell us how you've wired everything up.

How are you powering your screen? If it's direct power (with all of its intendent voltage drops at low RPM), that could do it. Plus, that would put your monitor in danger of being eaten by a spike. If it's via the 'egg', then that could be your problem because it consumes about a volt of power, meaning that the screen is operating at the lower range of necessary voltage. If that's the case and your vehicle voltage drops below 13 volts, it could shut down the screen.

In either of the above cases, I'd suggest piggybacking your monitor power from the power supply for your computer. You can get clean 12v from the lines that power your hard drive, and it's a darn sight better then using the Egg. The picture will be brighter, too, as the Egg drops the voltage down near 11 volts.

very odd. would love to see the wiring details. almost seems as if somehow you have tapped into the park lead of the shifter to the computer power on/power off controlller.

Sorry I haven't responded lately...I've been away from the computer. Thank you for your replies. I noticed that it is not necessarily putting the car in park that does this, because lately, after running the pc for a while, the video and sound will shut down when I stop at a light...put the car in park...or park and roll my windows up. I think the ITPS may be loosing too much voltage? My monitor is connected directly to an ac/dc inverter ...Any ideas?
