Lcd Power Hookup

My LCD has a red and black wire. Can I just take the 12v red and connect to a power source on the motherboard and ground it to anything metal. Also, where is the best place to do that and how do I do that.
Thanks.

NO! You don't connect your -ve terminal on DVD drives etc to the case do you?

if you are taking power from the PSU connect the -ve to a PSU -ve. Easiest way is a get a molex (HDD) connector and wire it up so the yellow (i think this is 12V) is conencted to the red and one of the black wires is connected to the black wire. Easy.
