I want to dim automaticaly with a photosensor....
I had these running a few hours.... I checked everything & I really think the pwr supply that went bad was just a fluke.... the other two are fine & I switched them back & forth to differnt banks of led's.... no problems at all
I don't think pwm can be used here really, these power supplies are internally regulated.... I do need to come up with a pwm control for the water pump though..... I don't need it to go full blast & I don't want to regulate flow with restriction.... that would just unecissarily raise the system pressure, Id rather slow the pump down.... any ideas?

thanks alti... it was fun to do a start to finish thread.... not that it's even finished yet..... next is cosmetics on the bezels & sourcing a touchscreen..... I would like to do glass if that's possible.... now that the screen is finally in I'm going to work on finding something.
I find some touchscreen overlays that are tall enough, but then there too wide.... I don't know if that can be compensated for through calibration..... like a 13.3" 4:3 overlay works perfect except a bit too wide.... I haven't found anything made for a 12.1" widescreen yet.... I thought I may be able to do without touch, but naaaaah...., gotta have it

ya, I cant imagine going without the touchscreen
A 13.3 4:3 thats got to be at least a coupe inches wider right?

You can control pwm through the serial port

I think it worked out to 1 1/2" overhang each side alti,
I really would like a stand alone temp controlled circuit instead of serial borris...... this circuit should be simple enough that I don't need it controlled by the pc.... I'm saving that for the climate control hopefully.....

I was talking about the dimming, not the temp control

even that..... a photoresistor is all I need.... way to simple of a circuit to need to be computer controlled, I'd rather keep that straight foward & simple..... I've got enough other complicated things in mind

Ok
But if you hook up the photoresister to the serial port then you'd be able to control the gamma and resistance
As you can tell, I'm looking to receive a free photoresister circuit

No. No need to control the turn signals, as they never get used

boris, you could have gps controlled turn signals then they are auto and you dont get pulled by the fuzz for not using them - sweet!
TC - amazing! looks awesome.
as for the dimming we are having an auto with manual tweak, manual and computer controlled so certain apps can also control the screen brightness.

well, I got the answer to why the power supply blew, email from ledsupply:
Dear John,
I was able to get a hold of one of the engineers at LEDdynamics, and
ask him some questions. The BoostPucks should be able to run 10-11
junctions on anything over 12V, so the 15.8V that you are using is fine.
The two pots in parallel will sort of work, but one 2-3K pot would
work better. What caused the units to fail was when you connected all
of the references together. The one unit that failed was most likely
the driver powering 10 units(it was). The unit that has the lowest output will
start pulling current through that reference and blow the 5V reference,
causing the unit not to dim. So it sounds like that's what happened.
If you would still be kind enough to send that back, the engineers
wanted to take a look at it. As I noted on the phone your order will
ship out tomorrow. If you have any further questions feel free to
contact me.
Best Regards,

glad to know why, & to know that it won't happen again, if all three had 11 led's this wouldn't have happened...... I connected the three different 5v references to geather to even them out....... shouldn't have done that without all three having an even load.... Oh well, live & learn.... I'll keep the references seperate fron now on

scouse, I'm also going for auto with manual tweek/overide, but I just need variable resistance to control..... I think a photo resistor does just that..... gonna play with it, it may just be as simple as using the right photo resistor..... could it be that simple????
