Successful Dual Video outs

Ive been searching on this topic quite a bit lately
Alot of projects always start out saying " I want 2 screens one with video and one with gps" and so on but not many ppl come back to say "hey i got it working!"
what im wondering is cpu usage wise, power consumption, and specs wise
if you have dual video outs on your system
**NOT CLONED VIDEO BUT 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT DISPLAYS (NVIEW)**
what type of setup do you have
is your system stable
is the opus or your psu supporting your setup
has anyone mastered this basically

My main thing is epia is appealing but looks like video will be choppy if it can be done at all, HOWEVER then its a constant battle over power consumption and the inevitable "will the opus power this" thread.

BTW ive done power consumption calculators but i get diff number on diff calculators

SO if you have a functioning dual vid out system if you could post your specs and even trials and errors you went thru i think it would help out a bunch

*im not looking for ppl to do the research for me i am planning an Asus A7N8X-VM and Mobile Athlon 2500+ system but im also confused on whether i need to put a second Geforce vid card, any housebrand vid card or if one of these or these will work*

Thanks
-Lost reception

well at home i have 3 LCDs 2 vid cards You just set it as dual veiw and then you can have apps open in the A B C screen, i recomend a GeForce card. Or just get a shuttle barebones and if its the right one you will have dual VGA.

Just get a Video card with dual heads and it should work.

the Asus A7N8X-VM supports Nview apparently
From the Asus Spec Page
_____________________________
VGA -Integrated GeForce4 MX GPU
-Integrated TV encoder
-NVIDA nVIEW dual-display architecture
-Support DVI (AGP-NV-DVI) and TV out (AV/S) cards
_____________________________

I think thats confusing me a little
the board only has from what i can see only has one vga out

whats required for a second display one of the things i posted previously or a second gforce OR just a vid card

i know this can be done i was just hoping to see some ppls working examples and get some feedback

the dual head is only fromt he VGA and tV out. There is only one nForce2 IGP mATX board wheich has dual VGA out supporting nview and that is an Epox model.

The only ways you could do it are
a: run a VGA and svideo/rca screen
b: put a PCI graphics card in and run both - but this is always crappy
c: buy a dual head AGP card and disable the onboard graphics - easiest option
d: buy the Epox!

hold up a second, possible correction from above correct me if im wrong because if im not this seems to be the perfect board (for me)

I read on the specs page
___________
I/O CONNECTOR:
PS/2 Mouse and PS/2 style Keyboard Printer, Audio-in/out, MIC connectors COM1, COM2, Game Port by extra Cable
_________________
scouse i saw a post on here this was your concern as well
If I am reading the right specs it seems i can add just a cable and be done ?

EDIT again

someone on newegg said "I wish it supported clock multipliers because then you could use Mobile Athlons. Other than that, solid board."
does the wire trick solve this or no im not much of an overclocker...

Lostreception, most boards have an on-board serial header, as they have 2 serial ports - i guess they just used 2 serial headers as they used the space for a VGA out. As for the wire trick it should be ok. The Asus you wre looking at has to do the wire trick and the wire trick is done so the CPU apprears like a normal athlon CPU so the mobo should not know the difference. The epox may have adjustable FSB so that would be 1 less set of wires you would have to do.

Actually, just read this fromthose specs you posted:

CPU Vcore, Clock and Multiplier setting via BIOS Supports AGP Vcore setting via BIOS Supports Memory Voltage setting via BIOS.

But i am not sure if they all have firewire - it says it can but a lot of specs have the options on that are not used.

I think i might get this board but i don't know where from in the UK! dammit!

As for Dice, the guys are members on here. On guys name starts yunsu... or summit i think

EDIT: setting by bos might mean that it doe sit automatically from the CPU ID stuff - what the wire trick replicates. YOu really awant to set the vcore as low as possible to save power

So w/ this "cable" i can or cannot add a serial port as far a you know.

___also to get back on track
Does anyone have a successful 2 output setup VGA or Composite/Svid they would like to share with us

based on one signal will only be for gps and or computer based speedometer/gagues vga isnt really neccissarry

I am getting close to doing this to.

I have an epia m10k board and want to add this card. It should do the trick.

I was thinking about running one of the softwares that allows two people to work on the same computer running different application with different keyboards/video/mouse.

The serial ports will be via a header which has one or two 9 pin serial conenctors on it - like a USB header.

I have used a 3 monitor setup on my desktop by adding a PCI card to my normal duyal head radeon. It caused a lot of trouble adding an old PCI card - i don't recommend doing it that way. easiest way by far is to use 1 video card with dual outputs.
