double din case with mounting points for the liliput and the xenarc

Why hasn’t someone made a true fit double din case with mounting points for the liliput and the xenarc?

How hard could it be? And I think people that don’t have the time or skills to pull off a good quality integration would be buying these up quick.

It wouldn’t take much if I had the capability to mold plastic or had a source that could, I would do it. Just make a direct fit for the boards and universal mounting sliders for the new correctly proportioned double din case and a lot of people could have a somewhat OEM appearance monitor, a little paint to match existing interior and you would be off with what seems to be the most difficult task to overcome for non mechanically inclined people.

Any thoughts or has this been discussed before?

this is exactly what i'm looking for to put in my SSR. a bit wary of doing something super custom that will be difficult to reverse down the road. I want to be able to throw the factory 2din stereo back in if/when i sell. you'd think that digitalww would have made something like this already?!?

If someone can find me some good specifications on the size of a DIN slot and where the mounting holes should be, I could post some blueprints / directions on how to make one of these. I'm trying to find these dimensions for another project anyways, and I'm having a hard time finding them.

Generic dimensions for single DIN are 50mm high and 180mm wide with depth varying by manufacturer. The publications you're looking for from DIN (Deutsches Institut fur Normung) are:

BS AU 207 - Specification for dimensions of car radio installation space
ISO 7736 - Road vehicles; Car radio for front installation; Installation space including connections

These publications are from http://www2.din.de/index.php?lang=en but cost money. I'm still looking for free sources.

I have tried to track down someone to do the molding, but no luck as of yet.

The dimensions and 3d modeling are not the problem, just finding someone capable of doing the molding is the limiting factor.

If anyone knows anyone or can provide a link to a place that can do small quantities of parts for a price that is reasonable for such a project would be great. I know most places will not even deal with the kind of numbers I would be willing to have made (cost can get pretty high even with simple pieces)

It may take a person that is in the biz and willing to put some extra time in to get something like this done.

I just don’t know why it hasn’t been done yet? There are a lot of people on here that are very motivated and get things done much more difficult than this project could ever be.
