800x480 vs 848x400 Pics
Can somebody please post some pics of what a 7" lilliput runnning at 848x480 and a 7" lilliput runnning at 800x480 looks like? Id like to see the difference as I am about to purchase a MB. If 848x480 looks good enough to me Ill just pre-order a Epia SP. If 800x480 is that big of a difference Ill probably get a M1000 and throw in a NVIDIA card. Pics of typical apps run in windows would be appreciated.

Don't have pics, but 848x480 looks like **** on the lilliput, 800x600 looks alot better. If you need a widescreen res., go for nvidia

I've tried both in the past and I don't have pics to post BUT my Lilliput liked and locked onto the 800 x 480 with no problem where the 848 x 400 had to be adjusted every time through the Lilli menu. I just stuck with 800 x 480.

don't have a lilliput or pictures, but I have a xenarc and at 848x480 it looked horible, text was extremely hard to read and everything was blurry, at 800x480 everything is crystal clear.

What is the exact model video card you used and what is your settings? are you using power strip.

I have an ATI Radeon 9200. If you load powerstrip and add the resolution. When you reboot and set it you don't need powerstrip to load so you won't get those "register" pop-ups when loading windows.
You can get the 800 x 480 resolution out of any Radeon or GeForce card.

My amazment is that your lilliput locked on to 800x480. Are you sure... that resolution gets confused all the time.
The reason why i am asking details on your setup because the problem is not getting a graphics card (except the via m10k onboard) to display a custom resolution for instance 800x480 (the native resolution for the lilliput and xenarc) it is having the monitor recognize it and lock on to it as 800x480 instead of seeing it as some other resolution and displaying it incorrectly.
Also why would you just "settle"for that resolution? What you are claiming to have is the holy grail my friend.
I think it is time you busted out a digital camera and showed us a picture

800x480 will look infinitely better than 800x600 which will look infinitely better than 848x480.
You notice the vertical "squashing" much less when running at 800x600 than you would do with the horizontal "squashing" you would get with 848x480
600 pixels goes into 480 pixels MUCH nicer than 848 goes into 800.
I'll see if I can get some pics over the next couple of days.

I am positive. I've been running that res for quite sometime now. If you just install powerstrip and go through adding the custom resolution, I think it's listed as "800 x 480 LCD", you should have no problems. I've done it to more than one setup in the past.
I think you took my last comment a few posts up as me "settling" for 800 x 480. This is not the case at all. I used to think 848 x 400 was the ultimate res. but once I saw 800 x 480 and how my Lilli liked it...well, you know the rest.
I will attempt to take a picture tonight but my current system is in my closet as I bought a new car and I am figuring out how to install the carputer in this one.

Providing you're not using an Epia board with the onboard graphics - because it doesn't support any custom resolutions.

Especially as 848x480 is totally the wrong resolution for the 7" displays, and either 800x600 or 800x480 will be better.

I'm going to try to hook up my Xenarc when I get home to my main PC with a Radeon 9800 Pro in it (as it will do custom resolutions) and try to get some comparison shots.
