10.4 inch sooo expensive

So I have a nice F-150 extended cab w/captin's chairs...plenty of room. So of course I go with a nice comp enclosure box/display slate (where I gonna have the display rest). It's all gonna go really really nicely and I'm pumped. The space is just PERFECT for a 10.4". 7 is way to small, 15 is just a hair too big, and so I go to price the 10.4 touch screens........................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..............................ALMOST 600 BONES!!! That's NOT what I wanted to spend. You can all say it will last forever, and I will agree, but I don't care, that's expensive as hell. Is there any other 10.4 touch possibly made by lilliput or any other company? Just remember it's gotta be a touch VGA.

also, anyone here have that xenarc 10.4"?

it said it only has 180 nit--that's real dark for daytime operation...could almost get a 15" display with the kit included, it would be brighter and bigger but cheaper...hmmm

The first would be to slow for high res divx movies and it uses laptop HDD's which can be changed to 3.5" HDD's but its not really worthit unless it was in the back of the car for someone's own games/mp3/movie machine but it's 24v which isn't a problem but not worth it.

The second LCD is....well i don't know look for some reviews of that type of LCD

it's pretty old and it uses a serial Touchscreen which probably needs to be plugged into the keyboard port aswell for the extra power.

Still look around and ask but that LCD could only do 16bit instead of 32bit so u should look around and find out about it.

Datalux - there old and nasty - and dim, price used $50-$150+
make shure you see the back of them - the ones with the flat
back, are the good ones that have been upgraded ,to a better
brighter screen - I got the old one, its got square depression in the
center of the back plate - also the touch screen part may not
work on Windows XP with the old unit , mine dont

It looks perfect

Just check the mesurements:
PANEL MEASURES 7-1/4" HIGH, 9-9/16" WIDE, AND 3/8" THICK

it's 350nits which is as bright as a lilliput so it's not to bad looks like its what you need altho the pictures kinda look like they were photoshoped as the start bar is jaggered but it might just be the camera?

Anyone else think it's a yay or nay sale?

no it gets it power from the 12v the LCD uses

The 10.4 datalux only works at 640x480 60hz - and the older ones
only work with older video cards - they will "NOT" work with onboard
video from the motherboard - you will have to use a older AGP or
PCI video card - Most ATI Rage cards work so do 3DFX cards

The upgraded ones work just fine with onboard video from the
motherboard

Mine works well with video and games - its a TFT screen

You can convert the old 5V models to 3.3V.

But I am not saying that I recommend the old Datalux.

I do have one, but I use it on my HTPC in my bedroom. I display the UI on it, so that I can flip thru menus and such without covering up the TV's picture.
