Does anyone have xenarc connected for a long time to the car wiring without any problems ?

I've been running the same Xenarc directly to 12V power for 1year now without any issues. My setup is basically a 1.5 Amp fuse with a relay in the middle. The power is unregulated directly connected to the Cig +12 lead. The relay is turned on off by the Radio Headunits auxilary amp turnon output.

If you want, I guess you can regulate some to eliminate any high vltage peaks that occur, but I wouldn't go crazy about it.

what about just hooking the screen up to the switched 12V and then using a switch to power it when the car is off? would that work? i need an answer pretty soon please...but would this be a bad idea seeing as the fact that the screen wouldnt keep any of its settings once the car is off? dang it, i need a way around all this without buying an opus or something like that...any help?
EDIT: after looking for a while i found this...
http://www.itx-warehouse.co.uk/Produ...?ProductID=197

My screen turns off all the time as I cut the power when I pull the key. To answer that question, theres two parts. First, each time it detects a signal or signal change, it will do an autosync to the resolution. Two, if you cut the power, it will still retain the Backlight setting on the monitor and couple other things

The problem thats been noticed is that the Brightness settings don't get saved when you cut the power to the unit, and guess the same would go with the contrast.

Sorry to change the subject from the previous post, but I'm thinking it may be better to run the Xenarc directly off the car because it has an internal regulator. If you run it off regulated 12V, it will only have a maximum of around 11.3V coming out if it's own regulator.

I contacted Gain and they said it was safe powering the monitor directly into car 12v....
