LCD Video cable length?

Is there a limit to the length of a monitor cable the one from the puter to the display. I put in a 10' extension so i could relocate pc to trunk.. Monitor says no signal... I hooked up a house monitor with normal cable and it works fine.... everything for touch screen worked fine till i put in the extension... I've checked all connectors from lcd to puter and they are tight.... If i hook lcd up direct with no other cable it works too... I have 2 extensions totaling 15' between dash and puter... only thing i can think is cable... I'm stumped

That's odd. I've got a 15' extension cable that works fine...could be the cable isn't very high quality and the signal levels are degrading too much for one monitor? Don't know, all I can do is fling out wild guesses...

Did you try hooking up the house monitor with all of the extensions in place? If that worked, I'd double check the extension connections or buy a single extension rather than stringing things together. I have a 10' triple-shielded monitor extension cable and it's never had any problems.

Why two extensions? Keep the install as simple as possible. With two extensions, you have twice the likelihood that either a cable doesn't work or that the signal voltage drops too far to work properly.

I'd advise what hanzacra said, try the known, good house monitor with the extensions in place. See if that's the problem.

I'd also advise going with just a single longer extension, rather than two.

I've got 16 feet on my monitor with no ill effects.
