Any non-touch screen motorized monitors?

I don't want to do any modding to my car's panel so I was looking into the Xenarc 700IDT with all it's awesome touch screen ability.

The price tag is too high for me at this point in time though, and even the cheaper $500 alternatives are stretching it. I figure a small wireless keyboard will get the same job done for me... so is there anything that's motorized and not touch screen... and also VGA?

Sorry if this is a question, but I've been looking and haven't been able to find anything like this.

There's a reason you haven't found anything... There's nothing to be found that matches your criteria.

All is not lost, however. Armen & the MP3Car store are your friends, my man.
You can get this monitor: http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_...products_id=44
and this housing: http://www.digitalww.com/IH002.htm
Then do the work yourself. Armen even has a handy guide available with pictures and everything.
The monitor is $260. The housing is $170. You're looking at $430 before shipping. Chances are you could find the monitor somewhere else for a cheaper price, but buying from the MP3Car store gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside, similar to eating an unpeeled kiwi fruit that you microwaved first.

Realistically, though... When you get to that price point, you're damned close to what it would cost to buy a motorized touchscreen unit which wouldn't require any assembly on your part.

Yeah. At that point I think I'll just save the little extra for the touch screen.

By the time I do all the work to get that together and spend the money for a decent wireless keyboard and mouse I'm looking at just about the same price.

I'm looking for a primary mp3 box, and perhaps a GPS machine... would I lose too much quality by going with a normal dvd/tv monitor and a scan converter?

Or you could just buy a used one, like the one I have, with a touch screen for $400 shipped.

The quality sucks. Some people live with it or find it acceptable to their standards.
The only way you could determine that is to try it and see if it's acceptable to you.

Text will be blurry and hard to read. You'd be using the lowest possible resolution to compensate.
