exact size of the screen itself
ok so ive been looking into this and i want to remove my stock stereo and put the screen in its place. i would have to run a whole crap load of wires back and forth from the trunk but i really think it could work out. i would get fm radio on my carputer and maybe xm, and then route my sound card directly into some amps (that i would also have to purchase), and then all that would go to the speakers to give me 4.1 surround sound. maybe 5.1 if i put in a fifth speaker.
okay, enough with that and onto my question. if i buy a 7 inch touchscreen (porobably a xenarc), would the actual screen on that be small enough to fit inside of the hole for the stock stereo? i have a 2001 impala and i believe it has a 1.5 DIN size. i know its not 2 and i know its not 1. im pretty sure that the openeing is 4 inches tall and 7 wide, but im not sure. i dont care much if i can see the trim around the screen and i dont care much if im going to have space left over to fill. but would the stereo opening be large enough so that i can all of the screen?
