Toshiba TFD60W02 LCD

Hi,

Just bought 2 of these:

Toshiba TFD60W02
640 x 480
High Bright

Powered up the backlight inverter and these screens look really bright

, they seem ideal for carputer. Only thing is having trouble finding any information for these screens on the net

, so I have no idea how I'm going to drive the lcd yet (the controller is included, but has a 12 pin connector, 14 pin, and a 6 pin one)... Can anyone out there help me?? Any information regarding these things would be appreciated...

Also been keeping an eye the lcd backlight upgrade thread in case this dont work out. Have a lilliput that is ready to be hacked, as the thing is useless in the daylight.

Another option for me is to use the backlight assy out of the Toshiba screen and hack it on to another 6.5 lcd to get a high bright screen that way. The ccfl in these screens is similar to what you and jcdillin "were" going to use (i think) 1 ccfl that has "S" bends. I'll put some pics on later..

yeah post some pics on the backlight thread. Does it also have a heater underneath? you normally find that direct lit LCDs (as oposed to edge lit) have a heater the same size of the CCFL for warming up the tube in cold conditions.

Pics of each layer of diffuser etc between the tube and LCD would be cool.

Didn't notice any heater of sorts but I did only have a quick look. Not at home at the moment so will post some pictures either later tonight or tomorrow evening, got 2 15" Litemax 800nit screens here as well for comparision shots.

Ps: forgot to mention that the Toshiba screens were from the trains on the Jubilee line extension..

Living in Herts at the moment, so not to far from London. But orig from S.Wales...

Heres a pic of the back of the screen I managed to find, until I can get round to posting some better ones.

Okay I got one of those too!! I'll post the pinouts I've discovered so far (next week though as I'm on hols). I do get an image, however only B&W using composite in, hopeful that it will accept at least RGB otherwise its a hack of the chip under the ribbon. Several pins seem to relate to button commands 2 of which I found control orientation by taking them high, obviously you have discovered that the six pin is power related.

Excellent ! I'll be happy for any information regarding these screens.

I emailed a few places so far regarding a datasheet, Tobshiba.jp told me they wouldn't supply me with a datasheet, kept on blabbing about they are currently manufacturing these for OEM and couldnt disclose any information.

Regarding the screen I have had it completely apart just to see how bright the backlight is, and the various layers of film that they use. At the moment I have only powered up the CCFL inverter using a 12v supply. (Red +VE, Black -VE) I'm guessing that yellow is something like 0-5 for dimming?

I'm sure that these screens have RGB input simply because of the application that they were used in!
