Ok, you all will have to bear with me on this because this is my first time doing something like this.
First, I will give you a break down of
the project. I am looking to install a computer in my 1965 Mustang that
I am restoring. I will be using the system for mp3 and dvd playback, along with GPS.
A friend in one of my classes GAVE me the lcd (actually the whole top portion of) from a Macintosh Powerbook 3400c. So I have the casing around the lcd, the lcd, and everything that is behind the lcd. The
video ribbon is still attached and hangs from the bottom left side of the case. The specs of the lcd, according to apple's site, are: 12.1" Color active-matrix (16-bit, thousands of colors) SVGA LCD.
Did I get a good deal
I will be building a custom consol for the LCD, which will sit below the dash, and also hold the innard of the computer itself. So my first question is, what other components do I need to hook this up to a desktop pc. I will need a pci controller card correct? I have been to EarthLDC.com but am not sure exactly which card will work with this LCD. Where can I purchase a ribbon cable extension to hook the LCD up to the controller card? The ribbon attached to the contoller card will power up the LCD correct? Will I need any other components besides the controller card?
One last question...I just want to make sure that I am getting this. Of course, the PCI controller card plugs into the PCI slot on my motherboard, but how does the ribbon cable attach to the controller card? Does it attach right on the board itself or is there a spot on the side (where the parrallel ports would be on a motherboard) of the card to plug it in.
I apologize for this post being poorly written but it was the best way I could describe it.
