Touch Overlay for the oem NAV screen

I kinda prefer the standard interior look of my car. There's a VGA adaptor coming for the OEM Nav screen, so all I need is an input device.

Would it be possible to install this touch overlay (7") over my Touareg's OEM NAV screen (6.5").

Any help is appreciated!

you sure its got a vga in ?

if so that is so cool and you are lucky

since the 7" touch screen is measured across the diagonal

and the 6.5" is also the difference is small and as long as your are careful on how you mount it so it doesnt catch between the screen and plastic moulding it shouldnt be a biggie

if you google there are 6.5" touch screen elements out there

I would suggest as a first step to strip the dash and see how big the touch screen element can be, then go from there

I guess that's what will be causing troubles. I think no overlay will 100% fit the the visible area of my LCD. There will always be some overlappings, so the overlay will be stuck between the nav screen housing (plastic molding) and the LCD itself.
Does this per se mean a NO GO? Or are there overlays that can be stuffed between the plastic housing and the LCD?

The calibration could fix any issues you have But i would try to not clamp the active area of the TS with the housing - ir set it back with a slight (0.5mm) gap and stick it to the housing or lcd int he perimeter (non active) area.

So, i should just look for an overlay with an active size that fits inside the visible area of my LCD screen and make sure the perimeter of the overlay is bigger than the visible are of my LCD?
I'm not sure if i will be able to set back a gap between the LCD and the housing, will there be a problem if i cannot do this, meaning the perimeter area is clamped between the lcd and the housing?

1st i would look for a 6.5" TS - thatw ould be best. Any overlay will be between 2-3mm thick so you will have to allow for this anyway - some trimming is likely to be needed. I am jsut concered by the frame putting pressure on the TS and giving you a false reading. that cannot be tuned out with the calibration.

I also seem to have trouble finding an overlay with a 16:9 aspect ratio that fits.
The visible area of my screen is 5.5" by 3" (not exactly 16:9 either)
