Question aeicomp.com vs mars-cam.com???

They both have the 5" VGA screen... but one thing, and asking for speculation of mp3car.com folks

They both look almost exactly the same except the frames are upside-down from each other. weird. Anyway, the one on aeicomp is about 10$ cheaper than mars-cam, and it has higher res! (800x600 vs 320x240 of mars-cam) They both have ntsc/pal decoding and composite/svideo connectors...

so are they the same? What are your speculations on these? (I'm thinking of getting one of these and hooking up to the Tigerdirect "ARM" minipc... my design is changing everyday! )

How about a link to specific products so we know exactly which models you are referring to? And im pretty sure that if you are looking at a true VGA LCD that it will not have any composite/svideo inputs. They are probably plain NTSC/PAL monitors, not capable of the high resolution of a VGA monitor.

Its true that it would not be true vga (LCD5"QVGA"... quarter vga?) but being that it is directly translating the VGA signal into digital for that LCD, it would be a MUCH better translation than a VGA -> composite -> LCD of the same resolution. Halving the pixel count into anti-aliasing-ish coloration is better than a vga -> NTSC composite translation, especially since those converters usually are off the mark in the way of utilizing the entire NTSC resolution (because of under/overscanning)

look completely different to me.

The pricing on that! Do you know how much cool electronic gizmo's one can get for $600? Like an IPAQ PPC2000 H3835!

I think you should reconsider that lcd... just not worth it. Its small, hyperexpensive and still doesnt come cased. TTL/LVDS is true digital LCD input (natively supported). VGA/NTSC all use crummy controllers that never achieve the full quality of digital input.
