Post VGA compatability?

If a moniter is VGA and your motherboard has VGA output, is it goign to work in all cases without modifications, cards or controllers?
Like these moniters: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1303645357
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1302367847
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1303765505
http://www.earthlcd.com/SK2005R.HTM

They all say they are VGA but I have this bad feeling they will not just plug into a standard VGA port on a motherboard, like this one I am considering. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/pctekonl...bkbookpcc.html

Am I right on this?

If they don't "just plug in" what has to be done to make them work?

Cool, thanks.
Now the question is for the ones that need controllers, considering the fact that PC does not have any PCI slots, how can the controllers be connected to the mobo without PCI slots?

Take a look at the link the controllers from EarthLCD that G60 posted above. The second controller and third controllers on this page take analog VGA in and interface to the LCD. However, they only work with certain LCDs (will work with the 2nd LCD you linked to) and the controllers are $200+, so for this price you might as well get an LCD with built in controller.

Ok, I think I am begining to understand.
What are they talking about where they say that they recommend a digital interface for better quality? Is this where the controller plugs into a PCI slot instead of the VGA plug?

If this is the case, should I scrap the idea of using this mobo because it has no PCI slots?
Note I have not bought the mobo yet.

Thanks

I would scrap that Mobo because it has no PCI slots. I was considering it (because it's just freekin TINY in the case), but with no expansion slots you're kinda limited.

and pure digital interface to the LCD is a lot better than going to a VGA interface, and a lot lot lot better than going the TV-out route.

how much money do you want to spend on all of this project? what do you have already?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I have no components at this time but am ready to lay down the cash if I can come up with a good system.

I would like to keep it under $800. for everything.
