Post Has Anyone got rs232 -> LCD with VB?

Hey There! Long time no post.

I was wondering if anyone has suceeded in getting Visual Basic to interface a serial controller of some sort with a HD44780 LCD module, and some buttons.

Basically I want to have 8 buttons (input), and a 16x2 LCD (output) on the com port and drive it from mscoms with VB.

Has anyone got this to work? I've heard plenty of people out there were trying it, but what controller (ie shift register or PIC) did you go with? I'm trying to decide the best way for this to work.

Any ideas or source code would be very helpful. Thanks BJ

I found a nice pic with code that does what I want! It's Matzis Serial LCD Page @ www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Foothills/6703/

It looks really good, but I can't get it to work. The hex code doesn't seem to do anything. I load it in, and it says it'a all good, but doesn't produce any output.

I've tried another test on my hardware with LCD 16x2 test code - Which is a hex file you burn to a 16f84 and it shows 12345678 on all of your lines on the LCD., and that works.

I'm sure someone out there has tried this code yeah?
