i am looking into getting a flip down monitor to put in my truck. The reason for the flip down is i dont see this truck making it more then about one more year and i dont want to put the time into mounting the screen in the dash. My question is. I have been looking at how a flipdown monitor would mount and i noticed how the ceiling in my truck forwards the windshield (where the screen would go) (it is a 1st generation s-10 blazer(1988))has kind of a curve to it. Do all vehicles have this same curve? and are the bases to the flip down screebs curved to fit this or is there some cutom work that is needed to be done? I told my self i wouldn't get a screen and just use the MP3 for now but then i said why just do it halfassed? lol.....got everything togeher (even bought a M1-Atx PSU instead of using just a power converter like i again said i was going to use. all i need is a screen and i will be ready to install

I was considering a flip-down also. How do they mount? I'd rather not destry my headliner, and try to keep it stock. Are they just screwed in? Are the wires hard to run?

i have been reading some sites sence i posted last night and it dosen't seem the actual install is that hard, if you know what you are going. but all the ones i looked at is saying the flipdown monotor goes where the dome light went. are you able to put a flipdown in the front seat?

I have a flip-down Xenarc 700TR in my acura TL. THe dome lights located between both sunvisor mirrors had to be removed (as well as the included sunglass holder). One problem I ran into was that the base dimensions of the screen were actually SMALLER than the dimensions of the car unit, so the install shop had to create a vinyl trim about 3/4" around the screen to maintain a clean look. Take a look at the pictures in my sig and be sure to TAKE MESAUREMENTS My little slip-up cost me an extra $120 on the install, for that vinyl.

@KyleYankan, wires were no problem to run at all, this included the USB touch-screen interface, power wires, as well as a thick VGA extension cable I ran all the way from the trunk. Unit mounts with 4 standard screws, and you may have to create a wood "base" for those screws.

Do You know if it is possible to turn the screen, instead attacking it to the roof, to put it on the dash so that the screen is looked at straight?

Most of the video card driver/software (ATI, Geforce) has the option to rotate the screen in 90, 180, 270 or 360 degree.

I don't think there's an invert function in the monitor, but as said, the graphics software can usually do it if it's an ATI or nVidea chipset. I don't know if the EPIA onboards can do it, though.

The touchscreen software should allow you to flip that, as well.
