Need help identifying LCD and options
The 7-inch widescreen (16:9) LCD I ordered came in today so I did what any good geek would do - I took it apart. Here is the link to the product:
http://www.lik-sang.com/catalog/prod...ducts_id=1374&
Note the resolution (1440 x 234).
I also took a bunch of pics of the various pieces which can be found here:
http://www.geocities.com/laxrox/redant
Now, what I am interested in is the possability of using an LCD controller to get the VGA resolution mentioned above instead of what the composite video converter supplies (me and everyone else here . And yes, I did buy the whole thing just for the LCD portion, it was only $199 (plus shipping). And if you have never been to the Lik-sang site before, check it out, it's pretty cool.
Unfortunately, Redant took the time to file off all the model numbers on the major ships and I doubt they would be forthing comming with any technical information - like, say, the pinout. Luckily, under the plate on the back of the LCD Sharp didn't pull the same trick (see lcd-chip.jpg).
Anyway, it's it only lead I have so please look at the pics. I appreciate any help you can offer. I think the most exciting thing about this screen is that it fits PERFECTLY into a double DIN opening!
Oh yeah, there is also a model number etched into the PCB of the LCD (see lcd-silkscreen.jpg). The first line reads K2534TP and the second is N1S1CKA-A 3.
I have a hunch this might also be the same screen Sharp uses in their portable DVD player (model DV-L70U), but it's just a hunch. I don't have one to take apart
Thanks again.
Morgan

I assume you are asking how the PC looks through the composite? Not good, not bad. When I get things hooked back up, I'll take some pics and post them here for you.
I noticed that quota thing an Yahoo. That kind of sucks. I was going to move my picks to the photos section last night, but I couldn't see a quick and easy way to move them from my webspace. Maybe I'll try and get some mp3car.com webspace. Either way, I'll implement a solution by the end of the day.
Update: I moved the picture to a Yahoo! photo album:

Look in the redant album/folder.

When you say the res is "not bad - not good", can you read text OK, or is video/imaging that much better than text?
How did you find their service/delivery/etc?
Does it have a 12VDC input jack?
Where, on their website, does it say it has VGA capability?
Sorry for all the questions...
Thanks

Well, when I hooked up my Dreamcast using the RCA the init logo was very blocky, especially when compared to the VGA output using the VGA box and the monitor. I am still planning on posting some pics after I get the thing put back together tonight and hook it up to my computer.
I think lik-sang is has great service and delivery. Here is a copy of the tracking:

Three days from Hong to Provo is not bad! It arrived by 8:30am the 3rd day.
The AC/DC convert supplies 9V DC at 1.1 amps. I'll even include a picture of that tonight with the others.
No where on the site does it state VGA compatability. I am hoping to get lucky and hook it to a LCD adaptor without too much difficulty.
No need to apologize for the questions - I think they're great and that's what message boards are for!

Well, it's a day late, but I added some pictures of this thing in action. Since my computer died last night , I couldn't hook the screen to the secondary display of my Matrox G400 card using the VGA->RCA cable. Instead I hook it up to my Dreamcast and the ran linux on the dream cast. I even started up X11 and took a pic of that also.

Look in the redant album.
Off topic: I just recieved my CompactFlash to IDE adapter and am starting to build a kernel and root filesystem for it. I'll post to a more apropriate topic when I get something up and running. Also, I recived my irman yesterday and can only say "Wow". This thing is cool!

It took a while because Sharp changed where they had LCD datasheets on the web (I still haven't found their pdf datasheet repository) but here is the spec sheet on a screen that might be similar to the one in the Redant.
Sharp LCD info
This one shows TV-scan RGB in only, and will not support other VGA resolutions. However if you could pull that NTSC-decoder daughter board and connect to the RGB connections to the screen, the picture will look a lot better.
