vat on warranty replacement? That doesnt sound right - I wish I knew more specific information but im pretty sure they are not right- you already paid once and it sounds way dodgy getting you to change its designation to a straightforward import so they can skim you again - are these people on commission or something?
Can you not fire off a quick email to say, the DTI (or some other scary government department) in the mean time clarifying the case?

You will have to pay VAT on import even if it's a warranty replacement, so it's easier to enter it as a straight forward import, as duty will be written off as it's so low.
Can you please confirm it's OK for you to do that.

Will I ever get this screen, do I really want it?
I got a answer phone message from UPS on thursday saying they need me to confirm the customs entry but the number they gave is never answered they also said "If you do not call us you will be charged storage charges" - Not sure how, I've already got the items!
Surely if you give them the tracking number for the return of the screen to ex-audio and the numbers for shipping to you then they can tie it all up?

i finally got my replacement 8" touch screen. They sent me the refund as well for the return shipping of the in-dash and the price difference of the in-dash and the new touchscreen that i got.
I will have to go with a different setup now that I don't have the in-dash screen. However, I am a happy camper since the new touchscreen that I got works just fine.
Good luck to y'all.

I know I should but I'm sick to death of the hole scenario, I just want to get the bloody thing back and have done with it.
Yep I might be giving up but I’ve just had enough.

I just want to make sure everyone getting a replacement is planning on posting to report the quality of the new unit?
Mine will be in hong kong this week and I was going to try for a full refund, but if the new screens are indeed good, I may settle for a replacement without a month-long fight.

I admire your enthusiasm; hope everything goes well for you.
Today’s update.
Customs refused information given yesterday, they now need proof of warranty exchange, obviously there was no paperwork accompanying my screen.

With all the people that brought from the same ebay seller, why haven't more people left negative feedback?

I guess most people try to think the best of people and assume the replacements will be ok. Realisically though if it wasn't for this forum I would have assumed mine was the only one that had failed due to the lack of feedback left on ebay.

What info did you give? Did you give the shipping number used to return it to hong kong? Are you dealing with customs or with ups? Ups left me a message about clarifying the import duty with a telephone number but they never answer it I've tried the last four days at different times, not sure whether to try and track the person down or just wait and see if anything comes in the post, I have the items though so I guess I could just wait.

Personnaly I went for a standard touchscreen, hopefully they'll have sorted the problems for you though.

At last my screens been released from customs, although I was told today I will be charged storage as well as Vat, not sure about the duty until it arrives.
I shall be giving a full report in a few days, place your bets please.
