Alright, it's been a week, how's it working?

It's been a mixed blessing. I got a speeding ticket Tues b/c I couldn't hear my radar detector over my music. I guess I should be happy everything is working as it should. Here are the improvements I've noticed:

1) it WORKS
2) battery drain when car is off problem cured, but HU wont operate when headlights are not on. Not a problem for me b/c I always drive with angel eyes on.
3) alternator whine significantly reduced, but not gone (installing noise filter this weekend)
4) monitor screen opens/closes 20% faster
5) A/V cables in rear solidly reinforced
6) sound continues to play when closing screen

Downsides:
1) HU wont work when headlights are off.
2) if you don't turn off HU and cut power (i.e. turn off headlights), HU gets really F'ed up and beeps at you
3) "loud" function sucks now. bass/trebble sounds like a blown out speaker
4) cops are such douchebags

Sounds like you might have the wrong wire connected to your dimmer wire maybe?

so, what's my dimmer cable? this problem did not happen with my old unit. can you give me the wire color? I have checked my wiring at least 5x now.

same problem happened to me. the new units do not have this stupid D-Sub cable. you could just get it exchanged...

I just recieved a replacement last night, yeah the origional was purchased in july 2005. I put it in and even played with it for a couple of hours. It 'seems' to be stable, although I decided NOT to use the audio portion due to excessive static pops when changing mode/changing radio stations.
My Zr2 had the factory amplified bose sys, so I just hooked right into that amp with the computer.

There are a couple of differences that stand out from the old to the new.
1. It turns on
2. the screen goes in and out

3. the old unit had a stupid d-sub cable to handle all the a/v plugs, usb and VGA whereas the new model has wires coming strait out of the unit.

4. The antenna socket on the old was very hookey near the middle of the rear plate, new units have a very secure antenna plug at the left side of the rear plate.

5. did I mention it turns on?

i will play with it for most of today and take some pics and let everyone know how it is, but from what I've seen so far, lilliput finally got it right!

yes, but you will be disappointed to hear that the lilliput sounds like total crap. If you dont mind a lot about sound quality, it works as it should.

yes mate i connected mine up to my amps and i had no volume control what so ever, only way i could resolve it was to mount my original indash cd player in the glovebox and run the audio from that just use it lilliput as a screen nothing else
